We want to help demystify pelvic pain! ~ Most of the diagnoses for pelvic floor issues are just describing symptoms, NOT the cause or how best to treat it! Vulvodynia = "pain in vulva" Dyspareunia = "pain with lying"... Pudendal neuralgia = "pudendal nerve pain" Bladder pain syndrome (this one is self-explanatory!). ~ So what is really going on? \_()_/ ~ In reality, it's most common caused by tight muscles irritating the nerves running through the pelvic floor. ~ We're familiar with this in other areas! Sciatica is caused by tight muscles in the back bothering the sciatic nerve, which can cause pain anywhere the nerve runs (even to the feet!) ~ Tight muscles in the neck can cause headaches and migraines. ~ And hitting your funny bone can cause pain to radiate into your hand! ~ In most cases of pelvic pain, this is exactly what is happening. Just in an area that is harder to access and treat. ~ But it can be accessed and treated, and lasting relief is possible. ~ Wondering how the pelvic floor affects your symptoms or your diagnosis? ~ ~ #Repost @pelvicsanity #pelvicore #pelvicpt #pelvicfloorhealth #pelvicfloorpt #pelvicfloorphysicaltherapy #pelvicfloordysfunction #pelvichealth #pelvic #pelvicfloor #getpt1st #pelvicfloorexercises #pelvicpain #pelvicfloormuscles #pelvicmafia #physiopelvicore #pelvicorephysio #pelvicphysicaltherapy #pelvicphysio #pelvicpain #pelvicpainawareness See more

#Repost @ladybirdpt One reason pelvic floor PTs do internal examinations is to test the strength of this muscle group. The Modified Oxford Scale is a 6 point system that allows your provider to asses your strength based on two factors: . Strength... Upward lift . This video is great demonstration of these two factors! . When testing your pelvic floor strength, we’re looking at not only how strong your squeeze is, but also how powerful the accompanying lift is. These two factors combined give us your score on the 0-5 scale. . But remember, it’s not always about the numbers. Your strength may not directly correlate with your symptoms - so if you try to test your strength at home, don’t stress. . Feel weak or wondering how to engage these muscles correctly? Who’s uncomfortable??? Kids are turning to the internet to learn about sex and relationships. The internet is the Wild West Sobering statistics- . The average first age of pornagraphy exposure is 8 years old! ... Children under 10 account for 22% of online porn consumption under 18 years old. . 70.7% of tweens and 84.0% of teens encountered nudity or sexual content online in 2019. The under 10 age group is now accounting for one in 10 visitors to porn video sites 39% of 13-14 year-olds and 21% of 11-12 of year-olds wanted to repeat porn acts. 53% of boys in the survey believed that the porn they had seen was realistic. Kids are being bombarded with images and situations that they are not equipped to handle (sometimes accidentally or unwillingly). Can you imagine the confusion? Communicate with your kids! Get comfortable being a little uncomfortable. . . Here are some tips - 1Help them understand that it is normal to be curious about their bodies, but also to respect their bodies and other people’s. 2Do not overreact orshame your child if they have been exposed to pornography. This could actually encourage them to not talk to you about difficult issues and possibly to go to greater lengths to hide what they’re doing online. Think open conversation, possible parental controls, and education. 3Explain that porn doesn’t always (usually doesn’t ) represent what happens when regular people have sex. Its actors with special effects, just like batman. The problems with porn regardless of your feelings of right/wrong: It doesn’t portray real love, connection, respect, or intimacy. It can become addictive. It exploits young children, men and women. In February 2020, a 15 year old girl who had been missing for a year was found after 58 videos of her rape were featured on porn hub. . The entire point - Communicate with and educate your kids on sex before they google it because it’s not realistic and is largely special effects. Think before you watch porn. You may be watching someone unwillingly be abused and/or trafficked.Add consent to the convo! Elisa Repost @thekegelchronicles

#Repost @the.belly.whisperer How do I have better SEX and better ORGASMS with my partner? That’s the million dollar question. For some people the answer is simple but for a lot of people the answer is very complex and difficult. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, 75% of women will experience pain with sex at some point and time in their life. Sometimes it just occurs on the rare occasion but for many women the pain is persistent ... Why might you be experiencing pain? Some causes of pain during sex include: pelvic floor dysfunction, interstitial cystitis, endometriosis, vaginismus, vulvodynia, fibroids, urinary or yeast infections, vaginal dryness, ovarian cysts, hemorrhoids, prolapse, menopause, menstrual cycle, autoimmune diseases, pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy, sex too quickly after childbirth, STDs, post abdominopelvic surgery, and injury to the vagina, vulva, or rectum. And the list goes on... Sometimes women have past trauma or experiences that result in difficulty having sex. You may also be suffering from mental health issues that can lead to very painful sex. Insecurity in your body and insecurity with your partner is one of the main reasons women have difficulty reaching CLIMAX! The key to having better sex and orgasms is to make sure you seek help from a professional if you are suffering from anything I mentioned above but also share what you are feeling and experiencing with your partner (or friend/family/psychologist if you are single) Your partner can’t read your mind so learn to talk about the WEIRD stuff. The more open you are the easier and better orgasms can be Sex should NEVER be PAINFUL!
