DESSERTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD, DAY 7: Today is the classic Indigenous food bannock. According to my research, prior to European contact bannock was made with corn and nut meal, and a flour made from the roots of various ground plants. It was sweetened with syrup from trees. Often, fresh or dried fruits were added. The bannock in this photo was made with flour, milk, butter and blueberries topped with a berry fruit sauce and maple syrup. #yummy #delicious #bannock #bakersofinstagram #internationalfoods #trynewthings #instagram #photooftheday #foodporn #selkirk #tristacakes

DESSERTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD, DAY 6: I will admit I don’t know much about Portugal , other than that @cristiano is from there and it’s apparently the oldest country in Europe. Looks like a beautiful country to visit, though. These are pastéis de nata, a traditional Portuguese dish. They have a flakey, buttery, crispy crust with a custard enhanced by cinnamon, lemon and sugar. These ones are also accompanied by vanilla pods and edible flowers made with fondant. Mmmm! #internationaldesserts #global #portugese #portugal #pasteldenata #aroundtheworld #trysomethingnew #tasty #yummy #delicious #bakersofinstagram #instagram #photooftheday #foodporn #selkirk #tristacakes

DESSERTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD, DAY 5: I’ve always wanted to go to Hong Kong . Something about the neon lights and massive skyscrapers that dominate its skyline appeal to me. They even have a Disneyland. Speaking of Disney I have (the PR guy, not Trista) a blog called Delightful Disney Dude. Please read. Link in bio. Oh, by the way, this is some fresh homemade mango pudding (from Hong Kong!) #hongkong #internationaldesserts #yummy #delicious #bakersofinstagram #mango #pudding #instagram #photooftheday #foodporn #selkirk #tristacakes

DESSERTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD, DAY 4: Representing our homeland of Canada Nanaimo bars, named after the city of Nanaimo in British Columbia are made fresh with beaver meat! Just kidding, they’re made with chocolate, custard and a wafer base. Looks pretty tasty, eh? #canada #nanaimo #nanaimobars #chocolate #internationaldesserts #yummy #tasty #bakersofinstagram #trynewthings #instagram #photooftheday #foodporn #selkirk #tristacakes

G’day mate! Let’s hear it for Australia! Desserts from Around the World, Day 3, features caramel slice a simple yet tasty treat made with chocolate and a creamy caramel filling. Make yourself some and listen to Down Under by Men at Work and look at photos of kangaroos or something. This strawberry pie was made with freshly picked strawberries well, freshly picked when we made it back in the summer. Unfortunately, strawberries don't grow so well during January in Canada. The Beatles sang about Strawberry Fields Forever imagine many more pies we could make with that! #strawberrypie #pie #strawberries #freshlypicked #yummy #delicious #homebaking #bakersofinstagram #instagram #photooftheday #foodporn #selkirk #tristacakes

Thanks everyone for 1,000 followers! I wouldn’t have made it without the guy who runs this account, but also without all of you. Also, thanks to @pgsimko without her, I would’ve never have started this page. Thanks for following here’s to the next thousand! #donuts #celebration #yummy #icing #delicious #instagram #photooftheday #foodporn #selkirk #tristacakes

Does wearing masks keep you safe from being eaten too? The decorations on these guys are fitting for the year 2020. I had a bad dream last night where I realized that with all the Christmas baking to come in the next few weeks that I’d fall really behind on posting if I kept procrastinating (true story, this was a real dream). So in an effort to fight back against some of this backlog, here’s some coconut fudge brownies that were made a while back. #homebaking #yummy #brownies #coconut #fudge #delicious #chocolate #bakersofinstagram #procrastination #instagram #photooftheday #foodporn #selkirk #tristacakes

This popsicle sugar cookie reminds me of the summertime (not the Mungo Jerry song, which, coincidentally, is still a bop). Hopefully this summer is relatively normal. Also, we made more than just this, but as if it were 1950, the other photos didn’t turn out. Good thing I’m taking a food photography course next semester! #sugarcookies #yummy #delicious #popsicles #inthesummertime #whentheweatherisfine #mungojerry #photooftheday #instagram #foodporn #selkirk #tristacakes

So, I found on a Google a website with an easy cinnamon bun recipe, but for the guy who makes the posts here, there is no such thing as an easy-to-make cinnamon bun. The baker behind this page, though, has been working hard to perfect them and these ones come pretty darn close! It took combining three recipes and tinkering around with them, but it was well worth it. I also learned on Google that Canada is pretty much the only place that calls them cinnamon buns and not cinnamon rolls, so that’s kinda neat. Regardless, they still can be difficult to make. #cinnamonbuns #cinnamonrolls #yummy #tasty #homebaking #cinnamon #treat #delicious #photooftheday #instagram #foodporn #selkirk #tristacakes
