HELP WANTED!! Although our spring-planned visit to Gerald Island was not possible, due to the expanding Covid-19 pandemic, we are now organizing to return for o...ur autumn effort, October 3 - 7, 2020. Under the direction of BC Parks, and their invasive species ecologist, we will be working together to free the southeast tip of the island from English ivy, Himalayan blackberries, and two different varieties of vinca or periwinkle. The importance to native species cannot be overstated, especially in view of the presence of rare Coastal wood ferns. Several trees have been saved, but more remain. Please come to help, to any degree possible. We are cautiously keeping our numbers low, but volunteers are still needed, even for one day. Just letting everyone know that we have canceled all our 2020 expeditions to the Broken Group. Secret Beach kayak launch and campsite is closed for the season s...o we look forward to being back next year. In the meantime we have added three L2 skills courses based at Discovery Island Lodge and we will be adding more into the Gulf Islands once the park is open for camping. These are filling up fast so check out the remaining availability online.
