Attention Plant Friends! I need your help! I think we can all agree there has been a shocking plant trend evolve over the last several months, and I will take a hot minute to talk about it; and I need your help to do something about it. I am talking about the absurd and unregulated prices of rare plants.... When I was dreaming of opening my slice of Plant heaven three years ago, I dreamed of opening a quality plant store, with reasonable and affordable prices to the average income. While Plant is a business, and the point is to turn a profit, I disagree and will not condone with blatant overpricing, and I promise I will not gouge you with a price tag that I myself am not willing to pay. Unfortunately, the horticulture industry's plant-specific sector is too 'new' to have statistics to compare and benchmark with. There isn't enough information yet to keep each other accountable as retailers, so we as customers are at the mercy of whoever has the item and whatever they declare you have to pay for it. WE CAN CHANGE THAT. Through the fantastic plant community, I have met a lovely woman, named Heather, who has taken the initiative to develop a data-collecting forum to help us see who is selling what for how much and where. Ideally, this will help your local businesses regulate fair prices, meaning we can all enjoy these special plants for a fair price, which is why we are all here, right? In turn, this will help stimulate your local economy by ensuring local retailers can continue to operate and sell their quality items without dealing with massive competition in an unregulated industry. Please, take a moment and check out the forum. If you have purchased rare plants and are willing to share your purchase history information, you will help establish basic controls in this community as we advance. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND ONGOING SUPPORT. You guys are the best, and I promise we here at Plant will continue to work hard to keep you happy and satisfied for as long as we are able forms.gle/BGuExLKZFdYp1BfP7 #rareplants #plantpricing #survey #helpmehelpyou #letsgrowtogether #plants #houseplants #plantlove #plantguelph See more

Hi Plant Friends! I am feeling some hesitation towards these giant beauties, so let's talk about them and make them less intimidating Tillandsia Fast Facts:... -they are epiphytic, meaning they grow on other plants, not actually in the dirt -because they grow on other plants, they don't produce a root system because they are never in the soil -because they don't absorb water through soil, their leaves have modified over the years to trap moisture vapour in the air, with special hairs called trichomes (yes, trichomes also exist on marijuana plants, but we aren't that kind of plant store) Cool, so what are you supposed to do with this alien plant that somehow exists fine in nature but dies in my house? You keep this thing as humid as you can. Mist it daily (rainwater or distilled water is easier on their little bodies), or place it on a pebble tray and semi-enclosed terrarium, like the photo above. A pebble tray is simply any container that you fill with pebbles, then pour water in until it almost covers the rocks. Plop your tillandsia on top, and the humidity from the evaporating water will get trapped in the trichomes and keep your plant alive. Just make sure the plant is not sitting in the water, or it will rot out. And that's it! No stress, no fear, just pure, simple plant love Tillandsia Xerograpgica, $32 The Rose from Beauty and the Beast Style Terrarium, $65 plant included! Hey, Plant Friends! I feel like there is quite a bit of hesitation regarding my favourite friendly ferns, so let's take a minute and talk about these majestic pre-dinosaur era plants, then I will drop it, I swear. Why I love them:... They are hard to find in houses! I get so excited when I see one. They are LUSH! They smell like water. They are zen (they have lived and seen it all). They listen when I talk to them about my hopes and dreams. Fern Fast Facts: Ferns existed around 360 MILLION years ago. They were giants (think stories tall).Forests were full of giant ferns - trees and other flowering plants had not evolved yet! They were the first plants to develop a vascular system, meaning they developed a method to transport nutrients and water within their bodies, not just from the surface of the plant, like mosses. How to keep them alive: Don't forget about them. Put it somewhere in your house you often frequent (like a bathroom), so you can look at it and remember it wants to spend time with you. Keep them well watered. Think rainforest. Keep them well humidified. Think rainforest. A hot shower sends out lots of steam, or in your kitchen when you boil water for pasta or fill the sink with hot water to do dishes. A mister bottle, a pebble tray, or if you love your babes, a humidifier, are also great ways to increase moisture content in the air. #fern #ferns #friendlyferns #plants #plant #tropicalplants #houseplants #green #iloveplants #plantshop #plantshopguelph #plantguelph #downtownguelph #shoplocal See more
