Lobster fishing doesnt come easy. There are early mornings every day and the only break you get is the motoring between single-buoyed traps. We are now into Week 8 of a 9-week season. After hauling half of their traps, Skipper George and Andy transfer their crates of lobster to a larger boat to be transported about 24 miles west to buying station in Rose Blanche. #lobsterseason2020 #lobsterfishing @newfoundlandlabrador

Georgia gets a lesson on v-notched lobsters in this episode of Georgias Sea World. As a conservation measure, some harvesters voluntarily cut a v into a particular fan of an egg-bearing female to mark it as a reproducer. If it is re-captured the harvester knows to put it back as the v mark is visible for a few years. We received a surprise today when a new caribou calf was born right here on Picaroon Island, just about 500-600 metres from our lobster camp. At the start of this short video you can see the calf just to the left of its momma, then it nurses and a little later, tries standing and walking. As we carry on throughout the worldwide pandemic, our family has been taking part in the spring commercial lobster fishery. Our five-year-daughter Georgia is learning a lot about the lobster fishery from our boat and our lobster camp on Picaroon Island in Cinq Cerfs Bay, NL, located five miles east of Grand Bruit. Georgia is really excited to share her new-found knowledge, so we helped put together a trailer with some videos to follow in the coming weeks.
