Quick little update: attached to this post is some information regarding a few viruses that have entered our facility, we are currently experiencing cases of RSV, pneumonia, and an onset of fevers. All classrooms are taking all the measures to combat these viruses from spreading, we have bleached all surfaces and classrooms, have continued our diligent hand-washing techniques and continue to stay vigilant in all cleaning measures. Attached is a letter from Alberta Health Services outlining some precautionary measures to be taken if your child experiences any of these symptoms/viruses. Have a great rest of your week.

Today is National Child Day - Celebrate your children and their rights! Canada has been celebrating National Child Day since 1993."This is celebrating children as active participants in their own lives, and communities, as active citizens who can and should contribute to meaningful decision making!"https://www.canada.ca//childhood-a/national-child-day.html. We will continually acknowledge each child as a mighty learner and look at some books that celebrate childrens right...! This year we were inspired by the sentence I have the right to be protected by adults and to be sheltered from disasters under a great big umbrella, whether theres too much rain or because of other sad things" in the I have the Right to be be a child book by Aurelia Fronty. This is why we have the childrens pictures hanging in the hallway underneath the umbrellas to show that we will protect them. Have a wonderful day!

Happy Friday! We just want to share with you a little bit more about our program and what it means to have LOOSE PARTS in our classrooms. Loose parts are a huge component in the classroom because they allow the children to use materials in unique and creative ways. Often the educators set up provocations/experiences on the tables or on the floor with different LOOSE PARTS based on observations of the children. The materials that can be used as LOOSE PARTS are endless and can ...be either recyclable or synthetic. A good example is a rock; a rock can become anything. Sometimes you see children in the toddler classroom racing rocks down ramps and the rocks have naturally transformed into a car, sometimes you see the children in the preschool classroom using a rock to create a road, sometimes in the toddler classroom a rock becomes a phone. What kind of materials do you use at your home that are LOOSE PARTS? I have attached an article that includes more about the development of LOOSE PARTS. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! See more

Our children have been very interested in moving vehicles in our room! Using lego pieces, they build and customize their own vehicles. Theyve built their own cars, trains, and trucks! It is fascinating to see this kind of play experience outside as well! Some children would hop in the wagon and ask an educator or a child to pull them. Our children are definitely passionate about going places! [ 250 more words ] http://www.primroseplace.org/this-week-in-quartz-room-34/

Jasper Room has been a buzz with sound! We have been exploring sounds: how to create them, how to change them, all of the different sounds we can identify and some we hadnt heard yet. Amidst all the sound and fun it created, the children have expanded their curiosities into the world of smell. The Jasper educators are excited to co-explore and discover with the children all of the excellent and amazing ideas and experiences that we can involving smell. Spontaneous Play! "Children reap many benefits from being involved in dance lessons, soccer leagues and other organized activities. Spontaneous, active play that kids initiate themselves is an equally important part of healthy development. Spur of the moment activities can be just as fun and provide many of the same health benefits as organized fitness. Plus, spontaneous play exercises childrens creativity and thinking skills as well as their bodies." [ 235 more words ] http://www.primroseplace.org/this-week-in-shale-room-23/

This week in Quartz room the children were very interested in Going places. They showed their interest by building trains with chairs and listening to train sounds on the tablet. Outside they created a very interesting and high structure with big blocks and they were pretending that it was a train and sometimes an airplane! They sat on it for long time and talked about going to Ottawa to see grandparents. [ 264 more words ] http://www.primroseplace.org/this-week-in-quartz-room-33/

This week in Sandstone we have been very busy exploring science! Our science exploration started out when we made our very own butter. We poured whip cream in a small plastic container and then the shaking began. The children were pleased to show off their strong muscles as they began shaking the container as hard as they could. Some children expressed that their arms were tired as they worked their muscles. [ 394 more words ] http://www.primroseplace.org/this-week-in-sandstone-34/
