Thanks to the generous contributions from our community members, we were recently able to provide our Queens General Hospital staff with a new space to recharge. As long shifts can be mentally and physically taxing for hospital staff, we looked to nature's healing powers this past summer with the Atrium project, providing hospital staff with an outdoor oasis where they could rest and reflect before continuing on with their important work - looking after our friends and loved ones. *Photo was taken before the COVID-19 pandemic. #StaffAppreciation #DonorAppreciation #QueensGeneralHospital #ThankYou #QGHF

Dr Al Doucet is showing the beauty of Beach Meadow Beach to Dr Emily Quick and Dr Jeff Graham. Dr Quick and Dr Graham are Family Practice Residents At The University Of Toronto. As chair of the Queens General Hospital Foundation, Dr Al and the Nova Scotia Health Authority are trying to get these two Doctors to move here to work after they finish their training.

Pub Night at The Port Grocer, Dr Al Doucet, Chair of The Queens General Hospital Foundation, and members of the Queens Collaborative Practice are entertaining Dr Jamie MacKinnon and his wife Meaghan. Dr MacKinnon Is planning to join the Collaborative Practice later this year. The public will be informed when he is ready to take new Patients. Appointments can not be made untill his start of practice date is known.

November was a busy month at Queens Family Health, welcoming four learners to the practice.

As we enter the busy holiday season, we wanted to remind you of our annual campaign. We invite you to "care local" by supporting the continued work of our foundation. Queens General Hospital Foundation works to assist in many areas from enhancing your patient care to advances in health care equipment at Queens General Hospital. Your gift will help us continue to support the hospital in ways that will make all of our lives better. No gift is too small, and one click makes it easier to give. Charitable receipts are issued for all donations. As Christmas approaches, many choose to give to a charity of choice in the name of a friend or loved one as a gift idea. For over twenty five years, the Queens General Hospital Foundation has been providing financial support to Queens General Hospital, located in Liverpool, Nova Scotia; and from time-to-time worthy community health projects. Through the generous support of our community, we have been able to provide funding for the expansion of the hospital, outfit the Rehabilitation Department, and purchase needed diagnostic equipment for better inpatient and outpatient care to name only a few initiatives.

The citizens of Queens County appreciate the hard work of their hospital staff. On Thursday, August 29 the Queens General Hospital Foundation showed that appreciation with frozen yogurt for the staff. What could be better on a hot day?

Crystal at Queens General Hospital. Outreach Recreation Service at Queens General Hospital. Provided by Queens Manor and funded by The Queens General Hospital Foundation. Crystal Stewart-Smith, a Recreation Programmer from Queens Manor provides recreation service to patients on the medical floor at Queens General Hospital. Twice a week Crystal provides patients with opportunities to participate in a variety of leisure activities focusing on each patients unique social, emot...ional, physical and spiritual needs and preferences. Throughout the day Crystal can be seen with patients playing active games like darts and washer toss, listening and singing along to music, playing cards and an array of board games, as well as reminiscing and socializing with patients. The patients and staff of Queens General welcome this new service that Crystal offers as recreation and leisure is such a vital component of an individuals well being. The Queens General Hospital Foundation is pleased to be funding this program and look forward to continuing to watch it succeed and benefit new and existing patients. See more
