’ 5 ! What started in the Fundy Biosphere Reserve as a way to inspire visitors out on lesser used trails has ...expanded into an exciting nationwide project! The MABR adopted the Amazing Places project five years ago by holding public nominations to name the Region's 10 most beloved and incredible places. Since then, we've installed interpretive signage at each place, held fun events and programs, and even implemented an Amazing Places Geocaching Geotour complete with a super informative Field Guide and customized Geocoin prize. This year the project is upping its game even more. We're refreshing the geocaches, introducing touch-free Adventure Labs, and coordinating our social media with Canada's 4 other Amazing Places projects. That's right! Five of Canada's 18 Biosphere Reserve's have adopted the project, and we're collaborating on keeping you in-the-know on all of Canada's Amazing Places. Learn more about the MABR's Amazing Places project here: http://www.mabr.ca/amazingplaces. Old Growth Forests Matter. It matters that we acknowledge how fast BC's old growth forests have disappeared. #SaveOldGrowth Old Growth Forest are important to ...me for my health & wellness. I do not want to have to travel long distances down logging roads to find an old growth forest that forest corporations have not yet clear cut. Old Growth Forests are important to me and to everyone because they are the home of a variety of different conifer and deciduous trees with a higher resiliency to resist disease and survive climate change. Old Growth Forests have all ages of conifers from seedlings to trees 250 years old up to 1000 yrs + different types of trees with a wide variety of animal species that can live in them. Old, dying and dead trees in old forests support a variety of life from birds to bears providing food and good dens for many different animals. Old Growth Forests provide habitat for wildlife and fish. Old Growth Forests support biodiversity. Old Growth Forests support traditional spiritual and cultural uses. Old Growth Forests provide economic benefits for tourism, health & wellness and recreation. Old Growth Forests provide oxygen. Old Growth Forests provide free water purification, regulate water storage and flow. Old Growth Forests store carbon to mitigate climate change Old Growth Forests are vital to life. #SaveOldGrowth Sierra Club BC BC NDP BC Green Party BC Liberal Party Conservative Party of BC John Horgan @doug.donaldson.stikine I do not want to have to travel long distances down logging roads to find an old growth forest that forest corporations have not yet clear cut.

Bewick's Wren having a dust bath. Dust baths, also called dusting, dirt baths, or sand bathing, are part of a bird’s preening and plumage maintenance that keeps feathers in top condition. The dust that is worked into the bird’s feathers will absorb excess oil to help keep the feathers from becoming greasy or matted. #birdingtours #vancouverislandbirding #birdguide #birdwatching #myPQB
