A big part of my yoga journey has been self acceptance. When I started back at yoga I was 70 lbs heavier, depressed, and ate my emotions. At some point I learnt that no matter how much weight I was loosing, becoming skinnier wasn’t the key to happiness. I needed to change my relationship with food, learn to joyful with where I’m at, and accept myself. Still striving for bigger goals and dreams, and celebrating the steps along the way. If your like my and can this bac...k to a skinnier time, and realize that you weren’t self confident then either, it might be time to work on your relationship with yourself and with food. For the month of January I’m offering Healthy Body Yoga Wednesday mornings 7:30-8:45 The plan is to talk about ways to become healthier. This includes physically with what we eat and exercise AND mentally with releasing stress and learning to love yourself If that timeframe doesn’t work for you I will record them and you can watch and join in when it works best (being a part of the discussion is fun though) perhaps a journal will be helpful

It’s not a yoga post but just a life post. These last few days I’ve taken some time to pause and take a breath (and knit I’ve done lots of knitting sitting in my recliner with my dog by my side). I’ve needed it, I’ve also had some low moments, like really low, I talk about finding job, and seeing the good with the bad and man can that be hard. I’m looking forward to this week being known for a fresh start. Time shake off what is no longer serving me and pursue what I need (even if it’s hard) This time reminded me if you need help then please reach out! Or try a yoga class, or get some exercise, or eat one healthy thing. Take one step!

Doreen tagged me in this article and it helped me understand there’s something extra special about virtual yoga (and why I’ll continue to offer it!) Five minutes before we start Zoom yoga, I put the dog out, unroll my mat, and turn on my computer. I usually brush my teeth beforehand, but not always. And if I have to get up to go to the bathroom or chase a chipmunk out of the house mid-practice, no one notices. Zoom yoga means I get to experience all the good things about yo...ga without the anxiety of imposter syndrome, which helps to quieten my mean inner voice. In our virtual class you still get to do yoga but it’s much more relaxed. You don’t have worry about doing the full extension of a pose because someone else is, or if your yoga pants roll down just stop and tuck things back in without feeling like the whole room stopped to look at you. You can be a real person and do yoga! I drink coffee during my class and the home phone rings and sometimes my mic is quiet or my dog interrupts but who cares, if I can be ok with it then maybe you can be ok with whatever is happening in your space.

The article is a great read, based on a study but is the non science lingo version of it. But if you’re not a reader, immediately after practicing participants experienced: - decreased negative emotions - reduction of a cholesterol that could lead to heart disease - reduced arterial stiffness We knew there were health benefits but now they are being proven!
