Thank you to Peguis First Nation and Peguis Consultation and Special Projects for their participation in the Netley Marsh Restoration Pilot Project consultation process. We enjoyed a very engaged group and appreciated the guidance that came from everyone who attended. Special thanks to Elder Ruth Christie for the history of the area, and to Elder Wayne Manningway for his prayers. We look forward in continuing our partnership as we work towards restoring the #savenetleymarsh .

"Disposable masks, gloves, and other single-use plastics have been on the rise during the pandemic. How will this affect our fresh water?"....A very important question being raised and discussed in the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) Blog. https://www.iisd.org//covid-19-has-canada-using-more-plast

As the world copes with the COVID-19 coronavirus, the United Nations has shared a very interesting Opinion article from the UN-Water Chair, stating that "Without strong water and sanitation systems and the integrated management of water resources we cannot make progress on health, education, food, energy, climate change and peace." https://www.unwater.org/after-the-pandemic-building-hope-t/

A Media Bulletin, with a FLOOD WATCH FOR SOUTHEAST MANITOBA, was just issued by the Province of Manitoba Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre. It states that; "A significant weather system is in the forecast and could bring up to 100 millimetres of precipitation in southeast Manitoba beginning this afternoon. Property owners are advised to take precautions as this system could bring localized overland flooding in the area."

With the area once seeing tremendous concentrations of migratory birds over the years, the Netley-Libau Marsh was designated as a Manitoba Heritage Marsh. Let's continue our work to reestablish the area to the vibrant habitat it once was! #SaveNetleyMarsh

A sequence of daily images, over a three day period, of the algae bloom evolution in the North Basin of Lake Winnipeg, as shared by the EOLakeWatch Team. It is amazing that we are all able to see this activity, using the very same tool that they do, by following the link shared below. https://www.canada.ca//interactive-algal-bloom-monitoring-

With the long weekend upon us, in Canada, let's all remember to "Get your AIS off the boat!" To do our part to manage Aquatic Invasive Species, BEFORE leaving water access, let's be sure to clean all visible plants, zebra mussels and debris from boats or other watercraft and drain water from all water related equipment.

At RRBC, we continue our work toward a watershed governance plan, as One Basin One Governance, that includes everyone at the table. Wonderful to see the excellent articles, with a focus on Indigenous and Indigenous Knowledge and how it relates to water management, climate change and water stewardship in the IJC Great Lakes Connection July 2020 monthly newsletter. https://mailchi.mp/washingto/greatlakes-connection-07142020

Our printed copy of The Current 2020 has arrived! We are excited to review all that the Manitoba Association of Watersheds is working on to protect our water, soil, habitat, and climate. We are very proud to support this publication! Interesting to read up on the new team in the Pembina Valley Watershed District, chaired by Bill Howatt, whom is also one of our RRBC Board of Directors and very pleased to see our ad sharing a page with an excellent article on enhancing surface water quality. https://manitobawatersheds.org/the-current
