Things look a little different at reginafolkfestival.com. The Regina Folk Festival wanted to make a website that was easier for all folks to use. Thank you to the team at Arcas Advertising for their help making this happen.

Winter still needs to be interrupted and we still plan on doing so. The Regina Folk Festival is working with community partners, sponsors and funders to produce some beautiful videos that will be released February 18-21. Oh what’s that? Yes, this will all be for free. Hear from local musicians on your own time, for free. ... The RFF will also be running a fundraising campaign at the same time the videos will be released. Your support of the Festival is always greatly appreciated. More details and line up will be announced in January.

Dena’s playlist is the last one before the holidays. We’ll be back to play with playlists in the new year! Variable volunteer of the RFF for past few years. I volunteer for the leftovers, for the last minute tasks and for the unsavoury bits ... it’s all got to get done. I love goo, bugs, dirt, green saps that never quit pushing up from the earth and all things with fur and scales. My musical tastes can be similarly described; gooey, bugs folks, dirty (like the face of a two y...ear old eating from a murky spring puddle), sappy and respecting the scales. My playlists often contain songs that make me bob and sway and sing real loud in my mind. Dena’s Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5ml7WEo6e24YHBZHYX65qN We are excited to have playlists from staff, volunteers, attendees, community members, and more! These playlists feature artists that have been to the Regina Folk Festival as well as many that haven’t. Our hope is to share some sweet tunes recommended by cool pals every week! Dan’s Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1YNX4YjYb3oOiVKC305GkJ My name is Dan Shier (He/Him) and I'm one of the board members of Queen City Pride. I've been with the Pride Festival for 9 years now and am a passionate volunteer and advocate for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. I've also been an ongoing volunteer with the Regina Folk Festival and have designed the park signage for RFF since 2012. Growing up, I didn't always listen to the top 40 songs on my local radio stat...ions. As someone who is part Japanese, I was drawn to a different kind of music than what everyone around me was listening to. I received mixtapes (and mix mini discs) from my relatives in Japan of all the current pop songs of the time. I would listen to the same few songs over and over because that's all I could get my hands on. Back then, it was really hard to access music from another country. Music licenses and regional restrictions on copyrights meant I couldn’t just download the latest hit from a music store or walk into HMV like everyone else. These days with the globalization of the music industry and the popularity of K-pop and J-pop spreading across the Pacific, it's become much easier to enjoy this kind of music and I continue to enjoy Japanese and Korean music today. I see it as a way of keeping my roots nourished and cared for while I find myself longing to visit that part of the world once more. We are excited to have playlists from staff, volunteers, attendees, community members, and more! These playlists feature artists that have been to the Regina Folk Festival as well as many that haven’t. Our hope is to share some sweet tunes recommended by cool pals every week! Melanie’s Playlist Playground: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/31BjB6YjGWz5d7QIszn2bK A dear pal of mine got me to volunteer on the Signage crew in 2009 and I have been hooked ever since. Community? Festival? Concerts? Winterruption? Gimme more as Britney Spears would say. Currently, I am on maternity leave but usually I am lucky enough to call myself the communications and volunteer manager. Jams on top of jams. The Boogie Zone isn’t a place, baby, it’s a mindset! Let th...ese songs take you there. We are excited to have playlists from staff, volunteers, attendees, community members, and more! We have Jennifer's SECOND playlist today! I am not one for country music, but I love these. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1i3SW8wyD2PWQvfHDFdAhs... I work in Quality Improvement at Ranch Ehrlo Society, where I coordinate the accreditation process, assist in drafting policies and procedures and facilitate ongoing improvement initiatives for residential, clinical education, and community programs for at-risk youth, adults and families. I am also currently completing a Master's degree in Administration at the University of Regina, having previously completed a degree in Psychology and an Education degree. I have volunteered with the RFF for the last 10 years, mostly in the Children's Area. In 2019, I was the Children's Area Team Lead. It's one of my favourite events in the city. I love to paint, sing, dance, attend concerts and travel. We are excited to have playlists from staff, volunteers, attendees, community members, and more!
