2020 has been a year of challenges for everyone. With it quickly coming to a close and the holiday season upon us, Norfolk County Heritage and Culture would l...ike to invite everyone in Norfolk to step outside on Christmas Eve at 6 p.m. and ring a bell for a full minute. Imagine the sound ringing across the County! From Wilsonville to Long Point and everywhere in between. We may not be able to be together in the traditional sense this Christmas but we can certainly greet family, friends and neighbours with the cheerful sound of a bell. We hope you will join us in spreading this simple message of cheer and hope. Since March, we have been diligently working on Panorama 2020. Many partners recommended we cancel the event entirely, like many other festivals and events have... had to do this year. Quite frankly, that would have been the easiest option. However, our dedicated small volunteer committee has gone over every possible scenario and has worked tirelessly to ensure we brought hope, light and the Christmas Spirit into our community this holiday season. With that being said, we are thrilled to announce that the Simcoe Panorama will be open with our signature River of Lights as well as several iron light displays for a drive through event December 5th January 3rd! In a typical year, Panorama spends over $10,000 on lights, and our partners at Norfolk County put in countless hours of work installing displays and lights in the park. This year, we were not able to host any fundraising events to purchase new lights, and since our friends at Norfolk County are actively working on ongoing current events, they cannot dedicate the same amount of time and man power to the park. This is where we invite you to share in the holiday magic with us! Join us! We have many exciting things to get you all involved this festive season! You can support Panorama by: -Putting up Christmas lights and decorations on your house - join our interactive online map and contest, 'Light Up The County". All Norfolk county residents are encouraged to enter! http://www.simcoepanorama.ca/getinvolved/ -Sign up for the early bird tickets for our Covid friendly Holiday Magic show featuring Illusionist Lucas Wilson and special guest appearances from a certain Snow Queen and Santa, presented by the Norfolk Milk Producer Committee. https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/holiday-magic-tickets-128787826 -Stay tuned to our calendar for the Countdown to Christmas video schedule featuring our downtown Simcoe businesses in partnership with the Simcoe BIA. http://www.simcoepanorama.ca/eventsactivities/ -While there, have a look at our new website showcasing the amazing work of our local photographers! http://www.simcoepanorama.ca -Make a donation to our GoFundMe to help make sure we have all the lights and displays back in the park for 2021!https://www.gofundme.com/f/supportpanorama Although 2020 has been different in many aspects, one thing is for certain; our Christmas lights will shine on and the spirit of Christmas will ring through Norfolk County. Lower rates are good news for those who want to access their home equity through a refinance (minimm 20% home equity required) for a low-cost way to get needed ...funds. While everyone's situation is different, many homeowners are determining that it makes sense to refinance to restructure their debt to get financial breathing room with one lower monthly payment and interest savings. This move can also protect and improve your credit score. And since we're spending more time at home, many are looking at renovations to improve the quality of our their lives or for functionality like building a new home office. If a refinance can work for you, don't hesitate to get in touch for a personalized cost/benefit analysis so you can determine whether it makes good financial sense.

Time for another CREDIT TIP So by now you have checked your score right?! You might be wondering how they arrive at that score and what calculations it's... made up of. One of the largest factors in determining your score is...PAYMENT HISTORY. - Have you paid your bills on time? - How late were your payments? - Is it one trade line (what the industry calls a loan product)? Or more? - Do you have any outstanding collections? Payment history makes up 35% of your credit score. So if you have a credit card, line of credit, car loan, mortgage, these are all major lines that are reported on your bureau. Even your phone bill counts. The lender looks at these and asks themselves, how much of a risk are you? Are you managing your bills well and paying them on time? They use this information from your score to make a decision on if they are going to lend to you or not. Make sure you are painting yourself in the best light. And if you find yourself in a spot with less than perfect credit, please reach out and we can go over how to raise your score and plan for your future success getting a mortgage. Some may have noticed the newly installed memorial plaque and bicycle monument installed together near the south side of Black Bridge&COOP Silos on the LE&N por...tion of the trail. Here is a little communique with some details from our very own, Frank Woodcock: "Pre COVID, Heather Keam and I were working on a memorial to Michele Crowley on the WHT. Heather was the original Health Unit coordinator along with Michele who kick-started Pathways for People. Heather took over the Haldimand version of P4P and later left to join Tamarack. Michele kept her position and along with P4P achieved Norfolkâs Bike Friendly designation, spearheaded our Active Transportation Master Plan, introduced Share the Road signage and many other P4P initiatives. Heather had 3 children, Hunter, Spencer and Fletcher. Michele was their God Mother. The 3 boys wanted to do something in memory of Michele and as a result Heather contacted me with an idea. The Keam family wanted to put a bike sculpture dedicated to Michele near the Black Bridge. I had a memorial plaque awaiting installation and we merged the 2 ideas. Now that we are at Level 3 COVID restrictions, the other day with the help of the boys we installed both the bike and the plaque. There were good feelings all around."
