Rabi' al-Awwal message from Anse Shehnaz Karim, Executive Director of the Rhoda Institute: how can we celebrate the Mawlid in this time of restrictions on gatherings? After a visit to the grave of our Elder Khadija Haffajee, Anse Shehnaz shares a refletion on how to celebrate guidance in our times: What is the full moon? The idea of fullness makes one think of the wholeness - and doing things wholeheartedly. ... If we can offer our whole heart, we will be successful in the service we offer to others in this life, especially the People of God. In the Name of God the Most Loving, Closer to me than all my relatives Creator of relationships, and the One Who nurtures them best. We turn to our Lord. On this day, we ask you to join us in offering love and prayers for our brother Abdirahman Abdi and his family. We ask our Lord that He bestows His nurturing care upon the family and friends of Abdirahman Abdi, to bring them solace and peace.... We know the Justice for Abdirahman Coalition and many community members have worked tirelessly for more than four years to stand up and speak out against injustices. As we receive the sad news of the court's decision today, we ask God that He enables us to grow in love, our conviction in Him, and our commitment to doing what is good and just, no matter any obstacles that stand in our way. We reaffirm our commitment and appreciation of all those who worked and continue to work to uphold justice, may their hearts be enveloped in the unconditional love of the Divine and may they know that their struggle is not futile, that God sees what they do and will bring fruits from their labours. Dear community, even though we can't hold Jumua Prayers in person due to the restrictions in place in Ottawa, we are still offering talks given at the time of Friday Prayer in order to keep your spirit connected to your Lord and provide special moments of truth for you to experience and grow with.
