Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all, from the Rideau District Museum! I’m going to take a few days off so if you have a request in for information, I’ll get to you as soon as I can. I have an ever-increasing line for genealogical and miscellaneous requests and am handling them all in order of being receivedsome take longer than others. Due to the lockdown which comes into effect on the 26th, I will be working on responses to requests with information that I can access from home and will not be making non-essential trips to the museum at this time. Thanks, as always, for your interest in the Rideau District Museum

The Paper Project! From the Rice Collection, dated October 22nd, 1980.
My Internet is currently down, so until it’s working again (I don’t want to use up all my data uploading an entire paper), here’s a clipping from June 27th, 1979. I’m sure many of you will recognize quite a few faces from Mrs. Wing’s kindergarten class.
The Paper Project! From the Rice Collection, and as always with thanks to the Review-Mirror for allowing us to post their past papers, today’s edition dates to June 4th, 1980.
The Paper Project! Today we have two papers from the newly acquired Rice collection. First is the January 30th, 1980 edition, followed by three pages from January 24th, 1918. ... The early editions of the Mirror were broadsheet format, so the interior came pre-printed with news from around the world. Because the paper is fragile, I have just posted the relevant Westport parts of the paper

Wowthanks to all who enjoy reading our page! Since we started The Paper Project, our posts are reaching an average of 2,507 views each. That’s amazing for a village of 700 people. Thank-you for helping to keep the history of Westport alive and well during a summer when the Museum was unable to open our doors (for the first time since it opened 59 years ago, way back in 1961)
