Remember your smile creates ease in your efforts. Those moments when you soften and find your place and harmoniously settle into your space. This is called Sukha in Sanskrit. With the effort to remember and the ease to do, we remember to smile. We giggle, our eyes become bright. We are growing. - - Susanne ... #rockyourday #risingspirit #letyourspiritrise #smile

I used to wish I was somewhere else doing something else. Now (for the most part), I move from my centre and as the therapists used to tell me to tell myself ‘I am where my hands are.’ Meditation, breath and yoga postures have taught me how to be focused and aware. TONIGHT we practice yoga nidra in the studio, physically distanced and comfortable. Bring your favourite blanket and snuggle in with the fire and restore deeply, bringing you to your centre. 7:00 pm 7167 Carscadden Road, Orono, ON. We are LIVESTREAM too so PM me if you want to zoom in!

‘Tis the season to want to sink into the couch and hide but studies have shown that being in nature has many health benefits including: reducing anger, anxiety, stress, lowering blood pressure & heart rate, boosting our immune system, increasing sleep quality and improving creativity. Go outside and soak up some sunshine! #wellnesswednesday #risingspirit

Take a break! Taking frequent breaks from sitting to stretch every 20-30 minutes can be a great way to prevent health issues like obesity, stress and pain in the shoulders, neck and low back, while also improving your flexibility and posture. Here are some easy stretches you can do right from your desk: Shoulder Rolls ... 1. Roll your shoulders up, back and down gently. Stay tall and try to keep the spine in neutral position. 2. Start with small rolls and feel free to make them larger as your shoulder joints warm up. Breathe easily and smoothly. Neck Rolls 1. Inhale to take your left ear to your left shoulder. 2. Exhale to lower chin to center of chest. 3. Inhale to roll your neck to the right. 4. Exhale to lower chin back to center. Repeat 5-10x. Seated Figure Four 1. Sit up nice and tall in your chair with your feet planted flat on the floor about hip bone width apart (lower chair if needed). 2. Take your right ankle and cross it over so that it’s resting on your left knee. 3. Flex the right foot. You can fold forward to intensify the stretch. 4. Breath here for 30 seconds to a minute and then switch sides. #wellnesswednesday #risingspirit #manifesthealth

I still can’t believe how aligned my morning readings can be to what’s going on in my life. Today, Melody Beattie talks about the effort it takes to finish som...ething and when it’s finished the importance of taking a moment to enjoy the feeling of completeness. ‘That moment is a fleeting one. There are many more ideas and tasks waiting around the bend.’ I spent so long looking at what had gone wrong in my life and the mistakes I continued to make. Now, I look at what’s right and CELEBRATE. ‘Sit back and rest for a moment Then say, How Sweet it is.’ These yogis made it so sweet, so right. Thank you Maggie, Susanne, Norma and Milena. And thank you Carly for coming on board to allow me space to rest and celebrate. See you next year! See more

Rising Spirit Rock Lady, Caroline Howard, introduced rock painting as a joyful, meditative practice and she and others have since decorated the Rising Spirit grounds with beautiful rocks. She is pictured here putting some of them away for the winter Every Saturday over the winter months, we are going to share some of them with you along with thoughts they’ve inspired from our yoga instructors. We start with I am here’, from Susanne, Arrive, unpack, just sit; reset in... body, mind and spirit. I am truly here, in pockets of peace. I am gifting to myself. Unload your burdens. Bring yourself back. Stop. Sit Down. Take a breath. Start Your Journey. Begin again. #rockyourday #risingspirit #iamhere #startyourjourney #meditativepractice

It’s a wrap! And no better way to celebrate than a refreshing dip. And little did I know, while I was dipping here, my beautiful daughter Lea, was dipping off the BC coast. A chip off...yup.

What a ride it’s been! Almost as fun as riding with Santa I think . But seriously, the people I’ve met along the road during this first year at Rising Spirit..., and their kindness and zest for being well and joyful, has been extraordinary. There is so much gratitude in my heart on this final day, before we close our doors to rest and reflect. We re-open on the full moon of Feb. 26 with lots of fun stuff coming up! Mom and I want to thank you and we have this little dance in celebration of you! Until we meet again, Namaste. See more

I just read this quote out of the Melody Beattie, More Language of Letting Go, and it brought me where I want to be...cause where I want to be is a choice now. It hasn’t always been but it is now. Today is the only moment we have. If we wait until tomorrow to be happy, we’ll miss out on the beauty of today.
