Update: Winter 2021 Term Information As Red Deer College looks to Winter 2021 Term, we will offer a mix of online, in-person and blended courses. RDC will be i...ncreasing in-person course and service delivery for Winter Term, continuing to follow Alberta Health guidelines to help ensure the health and safety of all those on campus. We anticipate that between 2,000 to 3,000 students (about 40% of RDC's students), in addition to the faculty and staff who support these students, will be present on main campus each day. Course Delivery Across Programs: RDC has carefully and creatively reviewed delivery across all programs to determine how to provide the best overall learning and student experiences. To determine what will be delivered in-person and online, we have used curriculum-based decisions and also identified the suitability of each program, course, lab, shop or seminar. Programs that will be offered in-person on RDC’s main campus include: Transitional Vocational Program Pharmacy Technician Occupational and Physical Therapist Assistant Medical Lab Assistant Engineering Technology Programs (Electrical, Instrumentation and Mechanical) Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) - has multiple delivery paths, as identified below: 200-level ELCC courses will be on-campus 300-level ELCC courses will be online Both Certificate and Diploma courses will continue to be offered fully online Programs that will be offered through a blended learning model (shops/labs are in-person or one-day lecture/week will be offered on-campus) include: Apprenticeship programs Bachelor of Business Administration (ACCT/MGMT courses only) Bachelor of Science, Nursing labs and/or special use space Health Care Aide labs Kinesiology and Sport Studies labs and/or special use space Legal Assistant Practical Nurse labs and/or special use space Science programs (Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Engineering) labs Visual Art and Bachelor of Fine Art most studio classes Schools that will offer blended courses (a mixture of in-person and online courses) include: School of Arts and Sciences select courses are blended, with one day in person, on campus All other programs, courses, labs and seminars will be delivered fully online. This is to reduce the number of people on campus at any given time, helping to protect the RDC community from exposure to the COVID-19 virus. By having fewer people on campus, we will help to mitigate the risk, and we will adhere to Alberta Health protocols for capacity in the different areas or zones of main campus. Please Note: RDC’s Academic Timetable is currently being finalized and will be available in mid-November. This will have complete details about each course, describing if it will be offered through in-person, blended or online delivery. When the Timetable is finalized, we will share this with students through social media, RDC emails and TheLoop. In-Person Experiences and Services: RDC recognizes that in-person interactions are an important part of students’ experiences. We will continue to explore creative and safe opportunities in which RDC can provide these in-person experiences to our students. With more in-person activities on campus in Winter Term, RDC will also increase our in-person services for students. Please stay connected with RDC, as further details will be provided. RDC will continue to respond and adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic making decisions that keep the health and safety of our College community at the forefront. Questions? Great news! The United Way of Central Alberta is making an evening session possible! We will be offering the October session "Board Effectiveness" in our classroom in the morning as well as virtually in the evening (6:00 p.m.. - 9:00 p.m.). If we have great uptake on the evening session, we will continue to host the session in both formats.
