RCMP Major Crimes Unit lays second degree murder charge Sunchild First Nation, Alta. On Dec. 6 at 5:57 a.m., the Rocky Mountain House RCMP launched an investigation into a shooting outside a residence on Sunchild First Nation. The victim of the shooting was declared deceased on scene, and the Major Crimes Unit was deployed to take carriage of the investigation. The investigation led the Rocky Mountain House RCMP to locate a suspect vehicle and contain a residence on the Sun...child First Nation. With the assistance of the Emergency Response Team, the suspect male surrendered and was taken into custody at approximately 5:20 p.m. Keean Frencheater (24) of Sunchild First Nation is charged with one count of second degree murder in the homicide of Jason Lagrelle (39). A bail hearing has been held and Frencheater is being held in custody. He is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court of Rocky Mountain House on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 10 a.m.

Red Deer RCMP arrest Quentin Strawberry on outstanding warrants, will appear in court on murder charges Red Deer, Alta. On Nov. 8, Red Deer RCMP received a complaint of an individual with outstanding warrants allegedly threatening individuals in a residence. Members of the Red Deer RCMP responded to the Riverside Meadows neighbourhood and took Quentin Strawberry, 39, of O’Chiese First Nation, into custody without incident. Strawberry faces a total of 13 new charges in relat...ion to the events on Nov. 8, which include several gun-related charges, uttering threats and failing to appear. Strawberry is currently remanded, and is scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on April 4, 2021. Strawberry is also scheduled to appear Mar. 8, 2021 at Court of Queen’s Bench on murder charges. A bail review for this charge is scheduled for Nov. 25, 2020.
