Dear Royal Guests and Partners: By now you may be aware of an upsetting and disappointing situation at our hotel on Friday, July 24th. I am writing to provide an update and describe the actions we are taking. Upon learning of the situation, we immediately began an investigation to determine the nature of the situation and the appropriate response.... We have concluded that the actions of one of our employees were completely unacceptable and caused significant hurt to a guest. We would like to express our deepest apologies to the guest and the community. We are sorry this happened and are taking steps to ensure a guest is never made to feel this way again. The steps include: - The employee is no longer employed with our group of companies; - All employees will receive cultural sensitivity training with a priority on the appreciation and respect of all Indigenous peoples of Labrador; and - All employees will undergo training to ensure we have a respectful workplace. This incident has made me acutely aware of my role in creating a safe and respectful environment for our employees and guests. Travelling from outside of Newfoundland & Labrador The province of Newfoundland and Labrador has mandated that anyone arriving from outside the province, regardless of location, must self-isolate for 14 days. Individuals are required to travel directly to their place of self-isolation and not permitted to stop anywhere. Because of these requirements, we are unable to provide accommodations to those returning from out of the province for the safety and protection of our guests and our staff. Complimentary Breakfast Following the advice set out by the Provincial Chief Medical Officer, we have temporarily discontinued our buffet-style complimentary breakfast and have items available on a grab-and-go basis only.
