Wellness Support Response Lines "Back on April 13th, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, CMHA Saskatchewan and it’s branches started a province-wide ‘Wellness Support Line’. These Wellness Lines have helped connect our staff to community members and have played a pivotal role in maintaining a continuity of service throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic. Unfortunately, as the pandemic still rages on, many of our physical branch locations have remained closed to the public... due to physical distancing measures and other health restrictions that have been put in place for public safety. As such, we encourage anyone who needs someone to talk to right now to call the local CMHA Support Line in your area (see below)." here here! We agree that the Premier has been more interested in stoking divisions between workers than actually supporting them, or being accountable for his actions. Many of our student members are currently working essential pandemic jobs for the lowest minimum wage in the country, with no paid sick leave or other health benefits. And international students don't even have access to most (if not all) federal programs to help support them if they're ill or temporarily out o...f work. We need a lockdown now with fully funded supports for all - this will help curb COVID and it's also much cheaper to be proactive now then to deal with the drawn out fallout from our current trajectory. The province can't just wait for vaccines and do nothing in the meantime. Party to start treating workers with the respect that they deserve." The Sask Federation of Labour logo is pictured below the quote end description]

Interested in helping to get a downtown and Centre Square community association off the ground? Let me know. City staff have been working with residents over the last 12 months to establish a new inner city community association.

Regina Cat Rescue (RCR) was a proud recipient of a grant from RPIRG this summer. After seeing many of its revenue streams dry up during the pandemic, the rescue got creative and are selling non-medical face masks, lovingly sewn by volunteers. They have two styles available: pleated ($10) and custom-fit ($20). All proceeds support cats in need! You can order yours at the link below:

From Fight for $15 & Fairness: "We know that frontline workers are at much greater risk of exposure on the job. Yet, while workers face the worst safety crisis of our lifetime, bad bosses like Loblaws, Amazon, and Walmart are cashing in at our expense. The next seven days are critical: Please register for one of several upcoming phone ZAPs where we will meet, and make phone calls together!"

Members of the University community, Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 at the Centre for Health, Wellness, and Performanc...e (previously the Dr. Paul Schwann Centre) on the University of Regina main campus. An outbreak is defined as two or more people testing positive for COVID-19 who are linked to a specific, non-household setting or event within a specified time period. A number of outbreaks have previously been declared across the province, including 14 in Regina involving schools, businesses, and workplaces. In this particular case, two individuals who had a linked presence at the Centre have tested positive and are self-isolating. The University’s Health, Safety & Wellness team (HS&W) is assisting SHA with contacting anyone who may have been identified as a close contact through tracing. Anyone not contacted by SHA or HS&W is not considered a close contact and should simply continue to self-monitor for symptoms. While SHA is satisfied with the University’s guidelines on mask usage, physical distancing, cleaning and sanitizing, and limiting gatherings, and is not requiring the University to take any specific actions, a decision has been made to temporarily suspend some activities at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport (CKHS), which houses the Health, Wellness, and Performance Centre, and restrict access to some areas to allow for deep cleaning/disinfecting. Anyone directly affected by these measures will be notified. Anyone with questions about the availability of services can contact KHS at 306-585-4535. Anyone with questions or concerns about potential exposure to COVID-19 should call the provincial HealthLine at 811. Any questions or concerns about campus guidelines or measures should be directed by email to [email protected]. The outbreak declaration is in effect until November 21, assuming no additional confirmed, related cases are identified before then. The University will continue to monitor the situation and may take further action as deemed necessary to protect the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff. Advisories regarding potential exposures or declared outbreaks, including this one, are updated regularly on the COVID-19 Campus Advisories web page. Anyone attending campus should check the site regularly. In the meantime, we encourage our entire campus community to follow all public health guidelines to ensure the safety of yourselves, your families, and those around you. Health Canada offers two free apps available for download: one to assist with self-monitoring for COVID-19 Canada COVID-19; and another to alert the user in the event of a potential exposure COVID Alert.
