With the beginning January, it is that time of year to start thinking about Kindergarten Registration. The first day of Kindergarten is an exciting day for both you and your child. Prepare for the journey ahead by registering early for our September 2021 start up. Our On-line registration opens January 28th and can be found at https://dsbn.org/earlylearners/kickstart. If you know of a family who has a Kindergarten age child, let them know about this registration opportunity with us. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at the school at 905 227-2971. We are tentatively planning to have an Open House for our new Kindergarten families this Spring. We will make sure that we communicate this to you as it approaches.

Congrats to Mrs. Visscher's class!! They received a sweet treat yesterday for bringing in the greatest number of donations during our food drive. Well done and thanks again to everyone who was able to participate in our most successful food drive ever!

Halloween Reminder...

Raptors Food Drive a Big Success!! A big thank you goes out to Mrs. Sullivan for organizing our Community Care Food Drive and to all the many families who sent in food items for their thoughtfulness and generosity. We set a goal of 1000 items and when we saw the amazing response we reset the goal for 2000 items!!! We are proud to announce that our Raptors met our new goal, collecting 2007 items overall. Amazing effort, everyone!!! Happy Holidays!!!

Greetings Richmond Street Families We will be creating a slideshow for our Remembrance Day Virtual Assembly. The slideshow will include family members of our students and staff who have served or are currently serving in our Armed Forces. If you have a veteran or an active military member in your family, please send in their picture, preferably in uniform, along with their name, the war in which they fought or where they are serving, and their relationship to you. Also includ...e the names of the student(s) and their class(es) so they can be recognized as well. Annual Terry Fox Walk/Run at Richmond Street School- 2020 Once again Richmond Street School is pleased to be hosting its annual Terry Fox Walk/Run on Friday September 25th. It's the 40th anniversary of Terry's run, as it was 40 years ago Terry dipped his leg into the cold waters of the Atlantic and began his run. Due to Covid considerations the school walk run will not be as a school collectively, but rather that day classes will walk or run in their designated field area wh...en the teacher determines. This way distancing will be respected and not all classes will be outside at the same moment. Richmond has proudly raised over $9500 in the past 15 years in support of The Terry Fox Foundation in its ongoing work to fund innovative and progressive cancer research programs. This year to minimize contact items we will not be collecting loose change such as 'Change for Terry' but if you'd like, you can support our school by making a donation through our school Cash Online OR there has been a Richmond St. School fundraising webpage link set up in the link below: Richmond St. School's fundraising link is: http://www.terryfox.ca/RichmondStreetThorold Donations are voluntary as we realize this is a busy time of year with many challenges and ongoing expenses.
