Ever wondered what you would look like with black hair? But then you tried a box color thinking what’s the worst that could happen? We’ve all been there! Coloring the hair dark with an at home color seems straight forward. But it can also come out wishy-washy. It also adds another ring to the tree, as we like to call it. Meaning it coats the hair with a very pigmented layer of color. This can cause a lot of issues in the future when the client wishes to go lighter. We definitely recommend coming to visit the salon for any color needs, even if it’s something as ‘simple’ as going darker. Also, isn’t the violet undertones in this black to dye for SWIPE for before! Ice ice baby. Silver highlights are a stylish way to blend grey and look cute all at once! Check out the before and after to see how the roots are blended along with the natural salt and pepper. This will keep the hair looking good longer with minimal upkeep as regrowth comes in. Hair done by Jasmine.

Depending on the goals of the client, it is recommended that grey roots are blended with highlights and not covered with a base color. This will ensure a cleaner grow out phase, as the natural greys will be matched with the highlights. As you can see in the before picture, this lovely lady used to have a full base color, which causes an awkward grow out phase. Adding natural looking highlights that are a champagne blonde, will not only blend in the salt and pepper roots but it also doesn’t age the hair as much as adding silver or grey highlights.
