Frozen Kitten finds forever home at Sanatec .... Local business Sanatec Environmental added a new member to its team this week, just in an unusual way. While w...orking near the hamlet of Burdett, Sanatec staff noticed a small kitten walking in their truck tracks in the snow. Upon further inspection, the cat was quite cold and one of its eyes was almost frozen shut. She was pretty cold and it was around minus-10 outside. We got her in the truck and she was warming up pretty quickly, said company owner Chris Laing. As she warmed up she became a lot more lively and active. Sanatec workers asked around the community to see if anyone knew if the cat belonged to someone, and found out that it was orphaned. A quick managers meeting was held and they decided to keep the cat, and to name her Elsa. We have one cat here for rodent control, but that cat is getting to be around 15 years old, said Laing. We thought we’d bring her in and have her here for rodent control. She’s going to be an apprentice. She’s gotten so much love and attention since we brought her in. The cat was named after Elsa from the Disney movie Frozen. A couple of our guys came up with that, since she was frozen when we found her, Laing said. Elsa is around five or six weeks old, and went to the vet Tuesday morning. She is in overall good health, but was treated for a couple conditions. The business has been sharing updates about Elsa on its Facebook page. People can follow along to see how the cat is doing. It’s been amazing how many people have been reaching out and offering help, said Laing. People have offered to bring us food or supplies, and that’s so nice. We’re telling people to make a donation to a local pound or shelter if they’d like to help some animals out. Laing says the staff will give her a loving, caring home.

Elsa was featured in an article of the Medicine Hat News this morning and also just finished a tv shoot with CHAT TV Medicine Hat. She is enjoying her new found celebrity but it is tiring work. She is taking a little break from her toils for now.

Elsa Update: Elsa had her visit with the veterinarian this morning. It is estimated that she is 5-6 weeks old. She is believed to have worms and was treated for this. She also has a touch of conjunctivitis and will require eye drops three times daily to correct this condition. Otherwise, we are told that she is in good health, particularly due to the circumstances that she was found. Back at our office now and happy to be home. Thank you so much to the staff Animal Medical Centre South for getting to her so quickly and for the extra toys and goodies to help her adjust to her new life. She will be back to see you in two weeks for her follow up and inoculations.

Our new arrival! Say hello to Unit #24. Our new portable toilet service truck. With an addition of 150 new ports-potties to our inventory this year, this baby will make sure we can keep up with customer demand. And it’s fully loaded, so our operators arrive to the job not only in style, but in comfort.

Our newest teammate has settled very nicely into her new home. She has been named Elsa (because she was Frozen when we found her and apparently our crew is full of Disney fans). Her next adventure will be to visit the veterinarian for a check up.

UPDATE! After speaking with a local resident in the area we learned that this little kitten is in fact an abandoned stray and has no home. Therefore, after a quick managers meeting it has been decided that she will be hired on by Sanatec as our new Assistant Rodent Control Officer, pending a medical clearance for active duty. As you can see she is very excited about her new opportunity as are we.
