Ya’llwe’ve got trees and shrubs for DAYYYYS here at the farm And want to know the best news? Each and every one of our trees and plants thrives in the Alberta climate and our hardiness zones because we’re so tired of people getting their landscape all set up only for their hard work to die when the weather changes. ... That’s not happening with our trees, and here are a few of our favs we’ve got waiting for you on the Farm right now Valentine Cherries Mount Royal Plums Paul’s Pears Varieties of Apples Come on over and take a look at our selection for the year, and we promise you won’t be disappointed
We get asked all the time why we have tortoises. Our reply, WHY NOT! The prehistoric reptiles are a must see during your visit. You will be amazed by the speed of the giant Sulcatta Tortoise. Did you know that the Sulcatta Tortoise can live up to 150 years old!? Our oldest Sulcatta is 36 years old (still a teenager in tortoise years). ... Ready to meet a few of em’? Felix - He’s the oldest and loves cherry tomatoes fresh off the vine Tom - He loves cucumbers and his favourite past time is strolls on the Farm with Paul, he’s also the only one with an email account. Feel free to email Tom the Tortoise to ask him any questions you’ve got. He can be a little slowwww to respond, but he is happy to talk anytime. : @matkovskaphoto . .#yyc #loveyyc #saskatoonfarm #tortoise #tortoisesofinstagram #tortoiseofinstagram #tortoises #yycsmallbusiness #albertafarm #yycgreenhouse #greenhouseinteriors
The saskatoon berry has much historic significance in Southern Alberta. First Nations groups harvested saskatoon berries during the summer and would rely on the dried berry for nutrients during the long winter months. Pauls love for saskatoon berries developed early when he would pick the berries along the river with his sister. He always thought, wouldnt it be great to have a farm of these berries? That thought would materialize many years later into launching a farm wit...h saskatoon berries at the very heart of the operation. Our amazing friends @cold_garden are using our Saskatoon berries to make their beer and it’s delicious : @matkovskaphoto #loveyyc #yycenergy #saskatoonfarm
Hello Farm Friends, For the next few weeks we will be sharing a fun and interactive stories and posts about our farm, introducing you our amazing staff members, Saskatoon Farm history, our pets, old pictures and more. Stay tuned!!! Roll Call! Say hi to Gwen, the women behind the scenes. Tho most customers don’t interact with Gwen, she’s a vital part to making this farm run. This gal does the most and we probably wouldn’t be where we are if it wasn’t for Gwen. So, if you happen to pass this gem in our store, just know she's helping keep this all together.
