Dog reactivity is something that I come across a lot in rescue Often it's a deep rooted issue that takes some figuring out triggers and management of certain situations A conversation I had today has me wondering..... How many people have dogs that are dog reactive? How do you manage them on walks or in the car? Have you ever consulted with a behavioralist or trainer and if so what advice were you given to remedy or help the behavior. I am actively looking for new foster homes for dogs that are less then perfect. The main issue is dog reactivity. If you have experience and can manage a dog who is leash reactive and doesn't get along with other animals please reach out as I would love to make you a part of the sato team! Building confidence and teaching rules and boundaries to these dogs is such an important part of their rehabilitation and if I have experienced fosters I can help more dogs. Happy Gotcha day Pheonix!! Merry Christmas!!! This ol' dog just hit the jackpot ... Congratulations Fulsom family Welcome to the Sato fam!

Today is a really big day for our little girl Clove She is having her imaging and bloodwork at the OVC. CT And MRI for this little one to determine the extent of spinal cord compression and whether or not she will be a candidate for surgery or if she's better off just the way she is with support. Please send all the good vibes. This is one of the most expensive and special cases I've deal with and I'm pretty nervous!!... Applications CLOSED. No longer taking apps on this boy Howard Hound dog Howard is a just about 2 year old red bone Coon hound mix with beagle. This gentle medium sized boy has likely never lived indoors and is just starting to figure out how amazing it is!... Howard came from Florida and has some skin issues he's recovering from. He's been with a foster who has cats and has shown quite the affectionate side when they're around This sweet boy would love a home where his human is around most of the time. He enjoys car rides and being with his person. He would do great with kids who aren't too loud as he did come from a stressful shelter and is still decompressing some but with respectful kids this boy would really thrive and benefit from lots of affection. Howard needs a secure fenced yard as hounds tend to wander. This littl man is already neutered and fully vaccinated and on heartworm/flea and tick prevention. On Adoption Trial-to adopt Not available Bonded pair - will not separate... Paddy and Chi-Chi are a bonded pair- sisters, who's owner sadly passed away leaving them homeless. A nephew of the owner (along with his girlfriend and roommate) have stepped up to foster them and help get them into rescue and find them a forever home to live out the rest of their years. They are cane Corso, rottweiler and walker hound mix and are 5 years old. They are large breed girls. They could both use to lose about 10lbs but otherwise are in great health. Paddy is a little shy at first but she warms up quickly and does much better when her sister is around. Chi-Chi is outgoing and very good natured. Both dogs tolerate respectful kids and could thrive in a home with children of they have their space too. Looking for a home where they will get lots of daily walks and time outdoors so they can lose a few lbs. A fenced yard would be nice but isn't a deal breaker. They do well with other dogs and are okay with cats. They are Housebroken and walk quite well on leash and just had their vaccines updated and were microchipped. ADOPTABLE Pugsley This boy is just over 2 years old. He's a lab x ridgeback x Curr mix. He's got tons of spunk but also knows how to cuddle ... He came from Texas and spent way too long alone in a shelter. He is looking for an active home who will take him on lots of walks and adventures. Pugsley is currently being fostered in a home with young kids and he is doing quite well. He does occasionally let out a low growl if the kids get up in his space when he's resting. I would suggest a home with kids over 6 just because I don't want to set this boy up to fail. Pugsley is pretty laid back but does react to dogs on leash and is still working out some kinks with his house training due to his extended stay in a kennel where he had no choice. He loves to be with his person and would do best in a home where he's not alone a lot. 8-12 hour work shifts are not ideal for any dog but definitely not this guy. Boredom would lead him to destructiveness and bad behavior. Pugsley is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm/flea and tick prevention. His adoption fee is $550. Gotcha post for Roger ! This cutie came with the other 9 fur faces from Texas. He went to a foster home that was looking for a dog for a while but wanted to be sure it was the right one. Wanted to rescue and were patient!!!... But with little ones you always have to put them first!! Then here he was!!! Roger came and right away I knew he was perfect for this family. They had already signed up to foster with no strings attached but I had zero doubts when I dropped him off that... I would ever write an Adoption post for him From death row to a happy forever home in a matter of one week. ADOPTABLE Benny This sweet shy boy was another one of my Texas dogs saved from an unknown future. He's a lab x terrier maybe ridgeback mix... He's only 12 months old and has so much learning how to dog to do!! Always following his "brother" around at the shelter and then with his foster, Benny never got a chance to really blossom as a dog. Now that he's in foster care and gaining some real independence..it's beautiful to see this boys true personality. Benny likes other dogs and would likely be okay with a dog savvy cat or 2 with proper intros. He's an active dog who will need daily exercise or he will get into trouble!! Benny would love a couch to chill on but also loves to go for long walks and hang out in the back yard. He's not so keen on tons of commotion and despite loving kids would likely do best in a home with kids 12+ due to the noise and chaos level that tends to come with younger kids. A fenced yard is a must for this boy due to his timid nature. He deserves a safe secure yard to be offleash and play in. Benny is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and on parasite prevention. ADOPTABLE Barney This adorable Texas boy is only 2 years old and spent way too long in a shelter where he was terrified.... He is a lab x Curr x boxer? mix.. His coat is really short and he's lower shedding then most lab mixes. Barney is a little hand shy and I have no idea what has happened to him before he came to sato saved. All I know is he came very close to being put down.. and I'm so glad someone cared enough to give him a shot and send him to me. Barney is currently with a foster family with another dog and cat and is doing great. He's timid so I would say no kids under 8 just because he needs a quieter home. He would be perfect for a retired couple or a family where the kids are just about ready for college. He's a chewer and will need bones to keep him busy or he may look for other things to knaw on. He is cat friendly but does have a prey drive for squirrels. He's occasionally dog reactive on leash but it's mostly excitement!! He's mild mannered and doesn't pull too much on the leash. Much less busy then the 1 year old boys but still active and would do best with a large back yard preferably fenced where he can enjoy a good game of fetch. **I would love for Barney to have another dog friend so I will be looking for applications with no small kids and another dog for this boy ** Barney is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and on parasite prevention.
