The Tomatoes are gone but some peppers and eggplants can stick around a little longer. #growingundercover and the local climate could push these much later. I need to get them ready for spring. #claringtonsmallbusiness #discoverclarington #bowmanvillereko #bowmanvillerekonetwork

Plant trees, Eat more food. Driving around farm areas, sometimes you notice the giant piles of wood chips and tree trunks, from torn down shelter belts that were destroyed in the name of "efficiency and progress" University of Saskatchewan is helping farmers see how short sighted this is, how much production they loose by removing trees, and that once we understand the actual financial value of carbon, how much income the farmers is giving up. All of this potential with just random trees that the wind blew in. Imagine if the shelter belts were designed and planted with the most productive trees available for that context. Eat the trees.
To beet the radicchio heat, you have to work radicchio hours. #newcastleontario #localontario
Turnips are back ! Also check out the 15 soil profile from tomato planting. See the #worm way down there working away! Every one is important and that’s why we minimally disturb the soil. Provide them a good home, and they turn sand into soil. #ontariofarmers #clarington #newcastle #durhamregion
Evening first Asparagus harvests at the farm. #perennialpower
Krumbs Breadery&Stuff bread mountain morning delivery! Shop local and order extra for your freezer. This team delivers not only the Krumbs, but a whole bakery worth of bread it seems.
The exciting gambling part of farming is pulling off the row cover after a couple rainy windy nights. worried if you had put enough hoops for the weight, or another layer for the cold. Surprise! They mostly all survived. #ontariofarmers #durhamtourism #clarington

Almost complete with the barn setup and a new website. Plus a few more options I’m sure. The greenhouse is fully planted, the fields will be soon. Going to be a great year to grow. Thanks for following along !

Prepping beds for next week. Finding giant worms. Alien Plants and a Hot Rod. The beds were hibernating under a tarp, then got a little straighten out and raking, then back under tarp to plant in the next couple weeks. #notill #hedgerow #newcastleontario #clarington
