Hi Folks! I will start taking jacket zipper replacements for the winter months but still not doing other repairs or mending. My primary focus will remain formalwear and new clothing alterations. I will also continue to operate by appointment only. You can make them from my website (www.sewretro.ca) or through Facebook. I have changed it so that you can make appointments within 2 days of booking (instead of 7). You can also call/text me at 519-312-0123 for an appointment for something sooner or after hours.
Susan Jacobs knows what’s she’s talking about with fashion! Can I get an aMEN!

I have accepted the Love Being a Quilter Challenge. Every day for 10 days I will post a quilt Ive made and Ill challenge one of you to do the same, and you will challenge someone to do the same and so on and so forth. No description necessary, just a quilt photo. 10 days means 10 quilts. I challenge my Aunt Christine Carpenter. There have been quilters in my family for generations. My Granmother, Myra Bernice Colwell DAoust, was an avid quilter. I believe she initially... quilted for practicality as many women did in her era but she also made and sold them to gift shops in St Andrews, N.B. and to a couple who owned a Bed and Breakfast in Germany. Some of her quilts she entered in the Queens County Fair but most were given to family and friends simply to show her love. Sometimes for a special occasion and sometimes for no reason at all. I was gifted the fabric for this quilt by my cousin Louise Koenitzer (yet another talented family quilter). She has been an unwavering supporter, teacher and inspiration. After hearing of Miss Grace Growing With Down Syndrome birth, I was inspired to start cutting and piecing this quilt for her. I had no pattern but am still quite pleased with how it turned out. It was and will be the first of many! #quilter#quilt #quiltsofinstagram #seamstress #sarnia #sarnialambton #sarniaontario
Weve disconnected the landline and switched to this wooden telephone made in 1977 by my Grampa, Raymond Field. It doesnt accept and do outgoing calls buts its still pretty cool. Call us at 519-312-0123 if you want to talk to a real live person!
Time to chill out on the front porch after a full week of sewing and appointments! Cheers! #sewing #seamstress #sarnia #sarniaontario #sarnialambton #weddingdress #wedding #bourbon #cherrybourbonsour #cocktails #bourbonwhiskey

Warning: This is a long one! Hello everyone! Just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for their overwhelming support over the past two weeks! I'm feeling very fortunate. I do need to make a couple of small changes. (These are weird times and I'm learning as I go!) I'm going to open up more hours in the week for scheduled appointments. You now can book appointments on:... Mondays between 10-5 Tuesdays between 10-5 (same) Wednesday between 10-6 Thursdays between 10-6 Fridays between 10-4 Saturdays are also available but you will need to call or text me at (519) 312-0123 to set that up. I'm also going to lengthen the time of most formal wear appointments to 1 hours just to insure I don't have any overlap of customers. And finally, I need to start limiting the number of people I see in a day. If I see too many people,I just don't have time to sew! But please remember, if you cant't get an appointment online and really need to see me, please call! Or if you are having a hard time navigating the online booking system, feel free to call and I can help! Please be patient with me, as you all know, these are weird times. Cheers!
Happy Saturday everyone! Best margaritas in town. #brunch #chill #margaritas

Hello everyone! After thoughtful consideration about the next evolution of my business, I think now is the perfect time to focus on offering superior skills and services. Therefore, upon reopening, I will only accept men's/women's formal wear and new clothing. No more everyday mending or repairs, sorry folks! Equally important: I will be open by appointment only. It will be a bit of an adjustment for us all but this will allow me to rise to a new level of sophistication and allow for the high attention to detail that my clients expect and deserve. Thank you to EVERYONE for your continued support and encouragement. I wouldn't be here without you.

Sew Retro Alterations & Tailoring will be a drop off location for people making masks and caps for our frontline workers. There is a box on the front porch for donations. Thanks to Sewers of Sarnia for Frontline Workers and The Giving Tree.
I finished a quilt top yesterday and took it outdoors for a photo before taking it to Always Quilting in Brigden to be long armed. The wind caught the edges and made it look likes it floating! #isewlation #quaratinequilt #williammorrisfabric

Due to the uncertainty surrounding the corona virus, I will be closed until at least March 30th. As much as I want to get back to work, I feel it irresponsible to be open at this time. I will be calling people to arrange for picking up existing alterations. I will also be contacting people with scheduled appointments. Thanks in advance for your understanding! I hope to see you all very soon.
