It has been almost two months now that Leo Panitch has died. I still find myself refusing to believe it. I am currently working on revisions of a manuscript whi...ch he requested. Whenever I read his comments I can still hear his voice, and I find it so hard to believe that he is no longer right there where he always was, amidst his comrades in Toronto and worldwide, thinking ahead. But we will carry on the torch, won't we? So join us for this special event, which I have the honor to be part of, organized by our beautiful comrades in South Africa, with speakers from four of the seven Panitch continents!

If people have any doubts about the importance of academic freedom, perhaps they need to remember Angela Davis’s firing at UCLA because she was a committed communist.
