Hello again, friends of Sikora's! It's not often we have occasion to write to you twice in as many days, but it's for a couple of good causes. A number of you have been asking, "Is there going to be some kind of celebration of Sikora's? Some kind of party?" Well the answer is most definitely "Yes!" The Vancouver Chopin Society has voluntarily intervened on that matter, and has made this upcoming weekend's concert a 'Farewell to Sikora's' event, as much as it is a recital perf...ormance. On Sunday February 3rd, at 3:00pm, at the Vancouver Playhouse, the Vancouver Chopin Society is presenting Lukas Vondracek in recital. This remarkable pianist has won the 2016 Queen Elizabeth Piano Competition and has been making waves everywhere he plays. This recital is an opportunity to see a rising star in the world of piano. His programme will feature works by Chopin, Beethoven and Schubert. To return this very generous and considerate favour to our friends at the Chopin Society, we would humbly ask you to consider attending this concert. Hello friends! We find ourselves at another milepost, with fewer and fewer of those left before we close our doors forever. At the end of day today, there are only 28 days left in our time here at 432 West Hastings Street, your musical home-away-from-home for the past 40 years! Now that we are entering that metaphorical 'last lap,' we have to get rid of as much of everything that we can in these last 4 weeks. In order to motivate you to help us do that, we're deepening some o...f the discounts, something some of you have been asking about for the past week or so. As of the publication of this newsletter New CDs/DVDs/LPs will remain at 40% off the marked price as anything less would take those items below cost. Ed is currently preparing returns for all new products, so this will be your last chance to get them before they're all boxed up and sent back to their original suppliers. We'll hold onto the new CDs for as long as we can, but time is running out on that aspect of the inventory, so move and move quickly! Additionally... Used CDs/DVDs/LPs will now sell at 75% off the marked price And some further incentive for you... For 99-cent LPs, they are now 10 cents apiece No minimums - no limits! Hello everybody, and Happy 2019 to you all, now that it's upon us! We hope you've all caught your breath and are ready for more, because we certainly are! As you all know (or will, now!), we've got less than 60 days before we close our doors forever. Our last day is Thursday, February 28th, and while we've seen a lot of CDs and LPs leave the store already, there's still more merchandise on hand, all of it needing to find good homes. To that end, we're announcing an escalation... of our discounts! From opening on Friday, January 4th, and until further notice All new CDs, LPs and DVDs are 40% off All used CDs, LPs and DVDs are 60% off What else can we say, except "Come and get it!" There's lots of great vinyl still to be had, and a fairly decent selection of CDs to look through as well. We are taking special orders for the next couple of weeks, with that window of opportunity closing completely at end of day on Thursday, January 17th. So get your orders in to us as soon as you can, and we'll do our best to bring it all in for you. Whatever comes in will have to suffice, as there will be no back-orders on those last submissions. Time for a change in our DISCOUNT RATE for our clearance sale, that is! Hello everyone! Here's an update on the clearance sale, directly for your benefit. Effectively immediately, and continuing until further notice, the discounts are now set to... 30% off all new CDs, DVDs and LPs All sales are final Now, while the discount on used products will remain at 50% for the time being, there is an update regarding used LPs - For all used LPs that are 4.99 or less you can now buy 10 LPs for 9.99 As before, the discounts will not apply to items we order in upon special request, nor will the discounts apply to items placed on advanced hold. Mail orders will receive the discount, provided they are completed and processed on the same day. And while we've got your attention, there are a couple of other items we'd like to present - A big "Thank you!" goes out to both Mr. F.T. and Monsieur C.G. for their purchases of the big, big, BIG Bach box - the Bach 333 collection we told you about in our previous newsletter. That complete Bach collection really is a special item, and should you be considering one, our supplier still has a number of copies left in stock. The set is $699.99 and it is not available for discount as it is already featured at its own special price. Our Christmas wish is that someone among you makes it a 'third time for the charm!' - or maybe more! Additionally, a number of you have inquired if the reason for the store's closure is connected to an increase in the rent on this space we occupy. Most assuredly, that is not the case. Our landlord has been exceptionally considerate towards us in our situation here, and along with a great history of good-faith negotiation, has been instrumental in helping us remain here for you all to enjoy over the years. ALL USED CDs AND USED LPs ARE NOW 50% OFF !!!

Hello everybody - it's finally spring (kind of) and that means it's time for Record Store Day, now in its 11th year! It all happens on Saturday, April 21st, beginning at 10am opening, and goes until you stop spending money (real or virtual), or until 7pm closing, whichever comes first!... Here's how it will go - New CDs and all vinyl will be 20% off Used CDs will be 50% off Now for the fine print! There are some exceptions to the sale. The Karajan Complete DG/Decca Recordings box is marked down to its own special price, and for the clearance bunker, its 30% off cannot be used in combination with any other sale offers. In addition, there will be no advance holds on items in store, and any special orders or items currently on hold will not be included in the sale. All that being said, we look forward to seeing you in the store, or hearing from you if you can't make it in, and yes, mail orders will receive the sale pricing if you wish anything to be sent out to you.
