Wow. What a fantastic patio day for October! It felt like summer all over again. Thanks for coming out; for the kind words; for the patio buzz to send us smiling into the off season. But there’s still 2 days left! And to say thanks for your patience, your distancing and mask wearing, your resiliency, your general awesomeness, drip coffee is on us when you purchase any other item this weekend. Yep. Free coffee. Open Saturday & Sunday, 8:30-5, kitchen til 3 with condensed menu. Cheers.

Sunday, Oct 25th. Our last day of the 2020 season! Get your ‘cottage in the city fix’ this week before our hibernation! It has been a challenging yet positive season. Our sincere thanks to You for being ever supportive of local businesses. Thanks for making the café come alive each day. And our incredible staff. You have been flexible, consistent, kind and committed. Bravo.

Making Thanksgiving weekend plans? We’ll be open all weekend, including Monday, from 8:30-5 daily. Kitchen til 3pm. And October? As long as decent weather allows. The goal is until the end of the month!

You may remember our post in the spring in support of planting a memorial tree in Millennium Park for Tali Nolan. Thanks to the community, that financial goal was reached. Yet sadly, little is known about her murder. Her family has asked for help in getting the word out; if anyone has any tips or leads: "Crime stoppers is offering a $2000 reward and a private donor is offering another $3000 for the arrest, and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of ...Tali Nolan on April the 3rd 2020. As some of you know, I have been working with One City PTBO for a couple years now doing housing for them. The work is really hard as we house people that are hard to house, given many of the obstacles that they and this community face. This week has been particularly tough with the heightened levels of violence, exacerbated pest control needs, brokenness, and pain. I am reaching out for help, because we (and me personally) need it, and because it is so encouraging to have a community behind the work that we do. Below is a list of needs that I have for multiple homes that we work in (6 homes, going on 7 soon, housing 33 people and growing). If you think you would be able to contribute to these needs, please comment below and/or send me a message. Double mattress for a man coming out of shelter, moving in as soon as we have a bed arranged for him - $248.60 DONATED by ML - 2. Double box spring for him - $97.18 DONATED by BM - 3. Odd jobs for someone who is quite hard to employ but is happy to do dump runs, mowing lawns and raking, moving, etc. - $Priceless DONATED by DB & MB - 9. Single box spring for a young woman who is doing a lot better than she was when she moved in but is still really hard to house, plus bed bug mattress and box spring covers - $108.46 DONATED by JVK - 10.
