THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!. We realize this message is long overdue, but since our SHINE3 event we have been extremely busy here at the studio and have not had time to edit all our fabulous photo booth pictures. Now that we have, we would like to take this opportunity to properly thank all of you for your support and generosity. With your help, we were able to raise $10,000 towards the newly established Gian Carlo Dreuco Award for students enrolled in the photography... program at Sheridan College. Big thanks to all of the photographers who donated prints, the amazing volunteers who gave us their time and energy before, during and after the party and all the wonderful people who purchased a print or made a cash donation that night. CALLING ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS / ARTISTS / ILLUSTRATORS / CREATIVE TYPES!!! By now you have all hopefully heard about the fundraiser we held here at Silverline on May 17 to get some immediate cash relief to Gian Carlo Drueco after he had received a very sudden and unexpected cancer diagnosis.....something that has turned both he and his partner Michelle's lives upside down. Like most freelance photographers and photo assistants in this city, Gian had no supplemental health or empl...oyment insurance, so it was decided that we would rally together to raise some money in order to alleviate some of the financial stresses that would inevitably arise . The good news is our event on May 17 raised over $11,000 dollars for Gian, wildly exceeding all our expectations. However, many who attended the party were not represented in the silent auction and expressed some disappointment that they were not able to contribute a print or piece of artwork of their own to the auction that night. As a result, we have organized this ONLINE silent auction...ALL proceeds will go to Gian and help him with the day to day costs of living while battling a difficult illness like cancer. A link to each contributor's website will be included with each image that they have posted in the auction, so this can be a great way to get your work out there and seen by lots of interested and creative people. We do have a limited amount of slots for the auction so it is possible that all submissions may not be used unfortunately. All prints submitted that are not used will be returned to the people who submitted as soon as the auction has ended. This auction is aimed at, but definitely not limited to, photographers....so illustrators, fine artists, and other creative persons....feel free to submit if you are interested. It is with heavy hearts and watering eyes that we bid a fond farewell to our very own Helen Yousif, Silverline's most senior studio manager. After sticking it out with us for 2 years Helen is off to a full time position at Edward Pond Photography. We will miss her terribly here at Silverline and wish her nothing but happiness and success in all of her future endeavors....don't worry , she will definitely be making an appearance at SHINE2 and promises to come to our rescue if... ever we should need her...hell, she is just around the corner!! In the same breath, i would like to welcome and introduce to all of you our newest addition here at Silverline, Meaghan Ogilvie. Meaghan comes to us with previous studio manager experience as well as an impressive personal body of work .....check out her beautiful and ethereal underwater images at www.meaghanogilvie.com. She will be a very welcome addition to the already outstanding and dynamic duo of Lelania Little and Brent Goldsmith , our other studio mangers here at Silverline. Looking forward to seeing everyone at SHINE2 on May 17th....you may even get to see previous Silverline stars like Mike Pope, Rebecca Baran, Melissa Mucha and Kate O'Connor.
