A special thank you to Amica for the Helping Hands Baskets. All the folks on the More than Meals Program received these lovely gifts along with their turkey dinners today, delivered by our festive volunteers. It sure brightens Christmas for all of us!

Our talented Weavers at the Saanich Centre created over 100 masks that we have been sharing with all of our meal deliveries this week. As part of the Curbside Christmas we asked people to take a selfies wearing their masks so we could create a gallery on Facebook. Here are some! Thank you to the Weavers for the lovely and practical gifts! They are appreciated!

Today was our Curbside Christmas! Our COVID safe way of getting 100 Turkey Dinners out to a few of our most favourite people! It was so good to see some faces we haven't seen for awhile. People came by car, by bike and Santa maintained his distance and packed the bag of goodies safely in for the ride home. The gratitude and smiles are a highlight for all of us.

Thank you everyone who has donated to our Annual Campaign. This year, more than ever your support is needed and as always - appreciated. We want to make sure we continue to connect with and support older adults in the community - during these tough times and when we get past COVID to better times. As of November 25th, our Provincial orders are to cancel all physical activities until further guidance is developed. This means all exercise classes, pickle ball, table tennis and Zumba classes at both centres are on hold for now. Give us a call if you need further information. We are having Flu Clinics this week at our Centres and have a few spots available. These are for people who are 65. Please call Silver Threads at 250 388-4268 and speak to one of our staff.

Lest we forget. Remembrance Day November 11th, 2020 Our Centres will be closed so we may honour those who served. During COVID Remembrance Day needs to be acknowledged in a different way so we are all safe. Remember at home. The Royal Canadian Legion suggests having a moment of silence at the end of your driveway or sidewalk.

There are still a few spots available for Zumba Gold at the Saanich Centre starting at 1:30pm Friday, November 13th. It is an exercise program using the movement of Latin Dance in a low-intensity, easy to follow choreography format taught by Isabel. The class will follow all COVID-19 safety protocols, class size is limited to allow for physical distancing. Preregistration is required. Call us at 250 382-3151.

Reminder to Guaranteed Income Supplement recipients who have not filed their 2019 income tax. To avoid any interruptions in benefits in January 2021, Guaranteed Income Supplement recipients who have not already filed their 2019 income tax information should file their taxes electronically with the Canada Revenue Agency or contact Service Canada by calling 1-800-277-9914 and providing their income information over the phone. Or call our centres for more information.

Thank you to Rexall and their skilled Pharmacists for hosting our Flu Clinics. Today is the first clinic at the Saanich Centre, all COVID-19 protocols are in place and we are fully booked.
