PSA: As we enter what will very likely be the slowest economic winter season ever faced for many small businesses (including ours) without any or very little travel, please remember how important your continued support (if at all possible) of these businesses is. As our illustrious leaders continue to increase COVID restrictions once again without providing any real protections from debt or non-deferrable expenses required to run a business, (leases, utilities etc.), your sup...port has never been more important than right now! While the government continues to publicly praise their supposed support programs, the reality is...that very few if ANY small family run businesses have or can qualify for any of these programs. The Government has placed so many restrictions (the wonderful "fine print") on these programs that the true beneficiaries are really the big companies and corporations. The big guys employing hundreds and thousands of workers. Please keep in mind, that every "Amazon" purchase you make that could have been made locally, is one more purchase closer to your favourite local small business closing the doors for good as they struggle to pay their rent. This IS the reality of our times right now for most small businesses. How can you support our small scuba business during these challenging times: -Bring your scuba gear in for service despite travelling or not -Purchase or renew your club membership (these truly pay for themselves with only a few additional purchases) -Purchase a nice Christmas gift for yourself or that special diver in your family -Purchase a gift card -Sign up for one of the many dive courses offered - most have eLearning that can be completed from the comfort of your own home over the slower winter months. -Sign up for a non-diving course being offered in the shop i.e. Equipment Specialist, Nitrox, EFR (Emergency First Response etc.) Dates for these to be posted soon. With the loving support from our many loyal customers, we were able to make it through the first shut down. We will need this continued support again to make it through this apparent next one as we continue to operate without having qualified or collected even one dollar of government support. For anyone attending the memorial of our good friend Tim Marshall on Saturday November 28 at Wickies Pub in Barrie at 7 pm, we have once again been offered the professional DD services of Doug Williamson for anyone requiring a safe ride home from the event to anywhere within the Barrie area. Please let us know if you plan on using this service? Tim did express his wish in his final Will to have a celebration of his life rather than a formal funeral, so please help us fulfil...l this wish for him. Please come prepared to share your favourite "Tim" stories, and there are many lol. If you have any pictures or video you would like added to the montage, please feel free to forward to us. There is no cost to attend this event other than anything you eat or drink from the restaurant. Any donations in Tim's honour will be collected and forwarded to CORE in the Bahamas. Due to the change from Yellow to Orange COVID status here in Simcoe County as of Monday, there will be a small change for Tim Marshall’s celebration of life next Saturday November 28. As the restaurant will now be required to close at 10 pm (last call at 9 pm) we will be starting the celebration at 6 pm instead of 7 to allow more time for dinner, drinks and Tim stories. CELEBRATION OF LIFE for our good friend Tim Marshall. As much as it still hurts to post this, we have tentatively booked Wickies Pub in Barrie for Saturday November 28 at 7 pm for this event. This would be in place of our usual annual Christmas Party with any donations being collected and forwarded to a charity of Tim’s family’s choice yet TBD. Dinner and drinks will be up to each person to order and pay for. If you are interested in attending, please let us know ASAP so we... can make sure we have sufficient numbers to keep the booking. At the present time, the COVID rules in place for the pub are: No groups of more than 10 mingling at a table, social distancing of 6 feet, masks on when entering the pub or anywhere outside of the booked room. Of course everyone is welcome to wear masks at all times should you desire. As is the case everywhere, COVID rules can change at any time affecting wether we can even host this event. We will update ASAP if anything changes. If you have any pictures/video of Tim you would like to forward to us for a picture collage, please feel free to submit to us.
