Our team just got back from a week long trip to XiAn, China, providing support to a newly delivered UAV helicopter from Germany. The 3-bladed industrial UAV helicopter is approximately 3m in length, powered by a 300cc water-cooled Wankel rotary engine, with a MTOW of 100kg. With a fuel capacity of 37 liters, the UAV helicopter is capable of 5 hours of continuous flight on a single tank.... This unique UAV helicopter is controlled by our SK1000 Autopilot System, providing full autonomous flight and mission planning, including auto takeoff and landing. Great week at the first International Conference on Computer and Drone Applications (ICONDA) 2017. We met representative from the civil defense force, search and rescue, geological mining, forestry, universities etc and look forward to working with all of them utilizing UAV helicopters technologies in their studies and applications. A great week working together and sharing ideas with the Agriculture Development Authority of Malaysia in the state of Kedah and Penang. The GX9 UAV helicopter is controlled by our SK900 autopilot system, providing weed killer and pesticide spray applications for paddy plantations. Compared to an electric drone/multirotor crop sprayer, a gasoline powered helicopter is able to carry 10-15L of liquid spray and fly for one hour or more continuously. A very enjoyable weekend with the students and faculty staff at the Petronas University of Technology in Perak, Malaysia. Our team was honored to meet Dr Kamil, Dean of Faculty of Science & Information Technology and discuss about our UAV autopilot system and software, as well as future plans for the University and applications of unmanned system in Malaysia. Many have asked why our UAV autopilot system have a nicer flying characteristics compared to other system in the market today, and why our system can handle vibrations so much better and still be able to maintain such a small design footprint, whereas other industrial autopilot system are much bigger in size in comparison. To answer this, we would like to share a flight video of our Skookum Robotics radio control division pilot flying a 3D helicopter with our SK540C flybarles...s gyro controller. Radio control helicopter gyros require ultra-fast, accurate, and precise controls and must handle the most demanding maneuvers a 3D helicopter pilot can throw at it. 3D RC helicopter also generate extreme high G-forces and vibrations while in flight which led us to develop special algorithm and vibration filters not found in any typical autopilot system today. Our SK1000 and SK900 UAV autopilot system share the same algorithm and source code foundation of our RC gyro controllers and is forged from years of experience developing radio control gyros for the ultra-demanding 3D helicopter competition flying circuit. On November 15, our Asia team was invited to participate in a community event organized by #Spritzer, where we assist in deploying seed balls from our UAV helicopter to enrich the ecosystem of riverbank communities. Our team were able to perform many autonomous missions continuously and dropping seed balls to riverbank areas that are not accessible by foot.
