Snakes on a Plain

This is an eastern diamondback. I’ve looked for them three times in Florida, and I haven’t found one yet! Beautiful.

Well, I don’t think I’d complain, but I imagine some others would.

Hey guys! As this summer comes to a close and we are seeing increasing numbers of snakes on the move back to their winter den areas, remember to keep your yards clear of excess debris. Your pets, your kids, and maybe even your own body will thank you!

We have a new addition to our pack. Everyone, meet Timber Monk, and his older brother Halo! We are finally taking the time to finish getting our own backyard rattlesnake-proof so we can let these guys out unsupervised and without worry. These pupperz are the reason we do what we do

I’ve been out every day waiting excitedly for the new crop of rattlesnakes to be born so I could show you all how cute they are. Unfortunately, the only one I’ve found was this dead one, just this morning, on a popular bike trail. I had passed the spot just 20 minutes or so earlier, and I had checked it well as I know there was a pregnant female in the vicinity. ... In that timespan, a pair of cyclists went by, and the snake met its demise. I know they blend in so well, but in the next few weeks, it would be wonderful if everyone kept their eyes peeled for the neonates. After all, their mothers skip meals for an entire year just to deliver them! (That’s why they only reproduce every second or third year this far north.) I hope I’ll have some live babies to show you soon.
