The current Adult Inpatient Mental Health Unit is inadequate. Chronically overcrowded, many of our double rooms are forced to house three patients, while the best practice is a private room. The average length of stay for patients in these conditions is 14.5 days. How can anyone expect to get better if their journey is disrupted as soon as it begins? We're making room for mental health, learn more: southlake.ca/better Join us and donate today: https://bit.ly/3oxBVRB #ByYourSide #SouthlakeBetter #LeadingEdgeCare #SouthlakeFoundation

When Julie Anne arrived at the hospital with flu-like symptoms, within two hours she could barely breathe. Thanks to our donors, Southlake was able to provide the leading edge care Julie Anne needed to get back to her children. The Results Are In! This year, the Ladies in Philanthropy for Southlake (LiPS) voted to fund two urgently-needed pieces of equipment to support Southlake’s Emergency Department (ED), Paediatric Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with a collective donation of just over $75,000! Bedside PEWS Vital Sign Monitors As part of a collaboration between Southlake’s ED, Paediatric and NICU programs, this Paediatric Early Warning System (PEWS) offers improved early detection o...f critical illness and the need for medical intervention. Ten new units funded by LiPS will help reduce the incidents of respiratory cardiac arrests in infants and lower the amount of patients needing to be transferred to the Paediatric or Neonatal Intensive Care Units for more acute care. Slit Lamp This standard equipment is vital to examining the eye to look for signs of trauma, hemorrhage, inflammation, and foreign objects. Thanks to LiPS, our current equipment which is at the end of life and can no longer be repaired will be replaced, ensuring patients in our Emergency Department can get the level of care they need without delay. A huge thanks goes out to every member of LiPS, and especially this year’s organizing committee members: Co-chairs Elina Bagshaw and Sarah Powell, Patricia Wietzes, and Karen Spiers. Thank you for making leading edge care close to home possible! #communitysupport #womeninphilanthropy Ladies in Philanthropy for Southlake
