Michelle’s interview is hands-down my favourite. Keep being unapologetically yourself!! We can all learn from her.
As a young kid, I used to say "you gyped me" or "don't gyp me" as a way of saying "don't cheat me / rip me off"...that's until I learned that it stood for "gypsy" and was no better than saying "you Jewed me". To the list below, I would also add: "you are out of your cotton-picking mind" or "cotton-picker". Both originate from Black slavery. Words matter. Educate yourselves: https://www.upworthy.com/10-common-phrases-that-are-actuall
Loving this. So needed. Other tips for when you are physically distancing from any loved ones who are hard-of-hearing: 1. Bring a dry-erase board or chalkboard with you to write questions or comments to your loved one that you can easily erase to make room for more messages. 2. Bring a pad of paper with a sharpy marker (black or orange or neon pink are good high-contrast colours if they are also visually impaired) and write out your message in ALL CAPS or big big letters. Write less, stick to content words, and pause a lot to check for comprehension. https://www.shemazing.net/badge-created-for-hard-of-hearin/
The current life of teachers...
Definitely what I’ve seen in my practice: bubbly, bright, social girls who seek great at imaginative play but when you look a little deeper: overly social and the play scenario is repetitive from one day to the next...

My bubby is at the King David (where an elderly gentleman tested positive) and has significant hearing loss. She doesn’t understand why she can’t leave her room so I wrote her this letter...please please stay away from your immuno-compromised family members especially if you have been away recently or exhibit any signs of illness. My letter: Dear Bubby I know it’s hard to stay in your room but you HAVE TO. There is a BIG SCARY VIRUS affecting the ENTIRE WORLD right now and i...t’s spreading quickly. It makes breathing really hard. It lives on surfaces (tables, counters, chairs, cards, bingo cards) for AT LEAST 3 days. So if you touch a surface and then touch your mouth you can catch the virus and have trouble breathing too!! The solution?? Wash EVERY PART OF YOUR HANDS for at least 20 SECONDS - many many times per day and stay AWAY from other people. Don’t leave your room. Don’t touch ANYONE or ANYTHING outside of your room. We are here to help do you want a book?? Magazines? Do your chair exercises!! Look at pictures!! Take a nap! Take a shower! Eat some yoghurt. We can even play bingo together over the phone if you want. WE LOVE YOU!l and want you to STAY HEALTHY!!! See more

Wow! Great deal! Toys like these are wonderful for teaching vocabulary (animal names, animal sounds, action words, etc...), simple phrases (pig in, the sheep is in the barn, night-night piggy, etc...), following directions (e.g. put the pig in the barn AFTER you put the sheep), and for storytelling and pretend play. How would YOU play with this toy?
