Suicide bombers are the hallmark of LTTE Tamil terrorism. LTTE invented suicide vests and deployed women suicide carders for political assassinations. LTTE Tamil terrorists carried out 378 suicide attacks against civilians and civilians' objects that caused massive destruction. Tamil terrorists killed over 160 Tamil politicians, academics and intellectuals and massacred over 3000 innocent civilians living at boundary villages' so-called de facto state Tamil Eelam. LTTE also recruited over 7,000 child soldiers. At the final stage of the armed conflict, Tamil terrorists used civilians as a human shield and fired point-blank at civilians trying to escape from the LTTE clutches. There are sufficient facts to prove that the LTTE remnants and groups aligned with its terrorist ideology; greater Tamil Eelam are active in foreign countries, working to incite violence and destabilize India and Sri Lanka. November 26 and 27, each year, LTTE remembers their death cadre. The events continue to be observed LTTE and their proxies in Canada despite the LTTE's military debacle in May 2009. Most importantly, LTTE never mourned the loss of Tamils, who belonged to other Tamil militant movements. The sectarian LTTE did not regard others as fallen heroes. Only LTTE cadres were given that recognition. Families of dead cadres belonging to other movements were not allowed to mourn their loved ones publicly. They could only mourn in private.

Amnesty International claims that at least 60,000 people have disappeared in Sri Lanka since the late 1980s, with most of the victims being Tamil. In fact, there is a similar number of Sinhalese who also lost their lives due to the conflict. Given a war that lasted 35 years, if we use the Amnesty International figure, on the average some 4 or 5 people have disappeared each day. We also know that most of these people were victims of the LTTE itself. Mr. Anandasangaree, then General Secretary of the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) of Sri Lanka, addressing the annual general meeting of the party on 29th December 2008 drew attention to the large scale killing of Tamils by the LTTE as the Tigers regarded the weak and the wounded as a liability. Of course no records were kept. Aren't they part of the unaccounted disappeared?. Right from the start, the LTTE executed all those who dissented, declaring them to be traitors (thurogi). Well known Tamil journalists like D. B. S, Jeyraj, and Sebastian Rasalingam have stated that the LTTE has killed more Tamils than all the Government forces put together, going all the way back to King Dutugemunu! (see http://federalidea.com/focus/archives/201) So, it is the LTTE and its supporters, and NOT the Sri Lankan government, who have to primarily answer for the disappearances of Tamils. The LTTE ran a de facto government in the North and East for three decades, and the disappearances happened there. Furthermore, many of the "disappeared" are "refugees" who have taken new identities and are living in the West. This is true democracy at work. It would seem that the old order of the UNP and the SLFP have been consigned to history. In there place are the... SLPP (Sri Lanka Podujana Peruma)- the party of the Rajapaksa brothers who now dominate Parliament, and, a new much smaller Opposition Party, headed by the young Sajith Premadasa, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya. This is a new dawn for Sri Lanka, a fresh era creating the opportunity for the country to come together and finally put to bed the idea of any Tamil Eelam independence movement.
