Like most things this year, our #AdoptAFamily program required a different approach but the need for support during the holiday season has remained the same. W...hile we will miss the amazing moments our traditional #AdoptAFamily program brings, we are hoping to give Kanata families in need the same support they have felt in years past. We would love your help, via digital adoption, in providing a better holiday season to the hundreds of families we will serve! https://www.canadahelps.org//adopt-a-family-christmas-2020/

Today, on , We pray for those whose lives have been lost or harmed due to transphobic violence. We remember our fourth Mark ...of Mission; To seek to transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and to pursue peace and reconciliation. We re-commit ourselves to taking action to protect those most vulnerable in our midst. A virtual service for can be viewed on Proud Anglicans of Huron. #ProudAnglicans #Community #Ottawa #LetUsPray

The Diocese of Ottawa has, for many years, treasured a special relationship with The Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, which includes the country... of Lebanon. Yesterday’s horrific explosion in Beirut occurred very near the site of All Saints Anglican Church, located downtown. As we await news from the parish, we commend the following prayer to you, from the Church of England: , . , , , , , .

Welcome to COVID Communiqué 13. This week we’re introducing you to the Questions and Answers page we promised you. You can find it on the COVID-19 page of our ...website, or directly here: https://bit.ly/2PnOYoz. It’s a round-up of questions we’ve heard since the pandemic plan was released; they range from whether everyone has to wear a mask to what a parish should do if no one comes to church when it re-opens. Some won’t matter in your parish but we’re publishing these ones because we believe the answers may be relevant for many of you. A couple of answers are taking a bit longer to findwe want to bring you the most authoritative information available, not the first thing that pops up in a searchso we’ll be posting more next week. Please, if you have questions you can’t find the answer for in the plan or on the website, send it to us at the help desk at [email protected]. That’s also the address if you’d like to receive your own copy of COVID Communiqué or if there’s something we’ve overlooked or got wrongjust drop us a line! COVID Communiqué is produced by the senior staff of the diocese: Shane Parker, Bishop Linda Hill, Executive Archdeacon Sanjay Grover, Director of Financial Ministry Peter John Hobbs, Director of Community Ministries Jane Scanlon, Director of Stewardship Development Carol Sinclair, Director of Human Resources

Good morning and welcome to COVID Communiqué 11. It was great to gather virtually with 190 wardens and clergy for the July 15 briefing on our C...OVID-19 plan. Thanks to you all for your interest, dedication and care in this very difficult timeand for your hope and enthusiasm at the prospect of moving toward re-opening on September 1. If you’d like to go over the presentation portion of the meeting, or share it with others, you can find it here: https://bit.ly/3fPmQGq. We received 88 questions in response to the presentation. Most of them, however, are answered in the plan, so please start there with a careful read, and then if you still need information, get back in touch. Several other questions are answered in documents posted on the COVID-19 pages of the diocesan website, found here: https://bit.ly/3eNXbfV. There were a few very specific concerns that we’ll respond to individually. If anything new comes up or you can’t find an answer in the plan or on the website, feel free to contact [email protected] if you have further questions. Just a reminder: although the provinces continue to expand openings, the Diocese of Ottawa is still operating under the RED restrictions and all church buildings are closed until September. Please take this time to focus your attention on becoming familiar with operating in AMBER and doing what’s necessary to reopen with restrictions on September 1. Finally, be assured you’re not in this alone. Although each parish has its own context, much of what we face is common to us all, so collaborate and share ideas and resources with your neighbouring parishes. And please, don’t stop thereif you and your neighbours have a bright idea, or identify something you think will be a common stumbling block, or notice something we haven’t thought of and should haveget in touch and let us know. We’re much stronger when we all work together as a diocesan church. Our club has been asked by the City of Ottawa to request cloth masks from our community. Although many of our neighbours can access and purchase cloth masks, ...there are thousands in our community who cannot. The Human Needs Task Force is looking for donations of cloth masks to distribute to residents who have no other means. These masks will be distributed throughout the city to community partners who will connect with people who have no other means of accessing a cloth mask. The City is seeking cloth masks: Made with at least two or three layers of tightly woven but breathable cloth such as cotton, flannel or quilting cotton Without any seams over mouth and nose through which air may leak Ideally with horizontal pleats to help fit a variety of faces If anyone is interested in donating, send your offer of contribution to [email protected] or leave a message here and someone will contact you.

Welcome to COVID Communiqué 9. We’re pleased to be sending you , the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa’s pandemic plan and checklist, along with a lett...er from Bishop Shane. It is available on the COVID-19 page of our diocesan website here: https://bit.ly/3f955S2. With renewed apologies for keeping you waiting, we believe the extra insight we gained from sharing it with a pilot test of clergy and laypeople was worth the delay. Do bear in mind, however, that this is very much a living document: as the coronavirus pandemic evolves, so too must our responses to it. We assure you that we will keep in close communication with you each week until the pandemic ends. We also want you to keep in touch with us. To streamline getting responses to your COVID-19 questions, we’ve created an email address just for them: [email protected]. Although in one or two places an individual’s email address is given for more information, all other email should be directed to C19helpdesk. We’ll get you answers as fast as possible. We’re planning to share questions of broad interest in the Communiqué (without using names in case you’re worried about being singled out). Please, though, don’t think we’re only available for questions. We also want to hear your thoughts on the plan and any mistakes or omissions you spot it in. C19helpdesk is there for those emails too. Meanwhile, for more information on the plan, don’t forget: , : . . . . Finally for this week, we’re delighted to announce the Venerable Linda Hill started her new position as Executive Archdeacon yesterday, July 6. Please join us in welcoming her. Good morning and welcome to COVID Communiqué 8. We know you were expecting to see the diocesan pandemic plan arrive in your inbox this morning, butour apologie...swe’re not quite ready to send it to you. The edited plan was reviewed by the senior staff late last week. Now, with their suggestions incorporated, it’s in the hands of a small pilot test group of clergy and wardens, who will bring fresh eyes and their front-line experience to it. Their suggestions will be incorporated and the finished plan will be sent to you on Tuesday, July 7. , : . . . Have a safe and restful Canada Day. Good morning and welcome to COVID Communiqué 6. Although a great deal is happening around reopening Ontario this week, we have to ask you to wait a little longe...r for more details on what to look forward to in the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa. This is likely to be confusing and ultimately, disappointing news, particularly for parishioners. Many will have heard, in a general way, that churches are reopening, but not understood that opening remains at the discretion of each denomination or, in some cases, individual houses of worship. Please, continue to make it clear to all that our . You’ll find the detailed information on the closures here: https://bit.ly/3ec6Tcs Rest assured, however, that you’ll be alerted to any changes at all in how Anglican churches in the Diocese of Ottawa operate through your COVID Communiqué newsletter your one official source of information for all COVID-related church matters. That said, we expect to release a reopening plan soon, so stay tuned. Beyond that, there is only one change to our COVID pages this week an update to the Day-to-Day Operations pages. Until the new Executive Archdeacon, the Reverend Canon Linda Hill, assumes her position on July 6, operations and property issues should be addressed to the Director of Financial Ministry, Sanjay Grover ([email protected]). For more information, see The Doors are Shut, But the Work Goes On, found here: https://bit.ly/2YCGUEs That’s all for this week’s COVID Communiqué. As ever, if you have any questions, or there’s a development we’ve missed, or you find something that’s out of date or wrong, please let us know by sending a note to Heidi Pizzuto ([email protected]), Executive Assistant to the Bishop, and she will direct your note to the right person. There are so many questions around COVID-19, we don’t want to add any more or miss any answers. The Communiqué is produced by the senior staff of the diocese: Shane Parker, Bishop Sanjay Grover, Director of Financial Ministry Peter John Hobbs, Director of Community Ministries Jane Scanlon, Director of Stewardship Development Carol Sinclair, Director of Human Resources
