The old Aspen forest.

Oiling #tremblingaspen ceiling with #osmo3011. With a small patch to go I wonder, did I just make a huge mistake? Gonna miss the natural golden glow of the aspen.

@messymiddlepod did a podcast on @muchlittleshop and the powerhouse behind it, the indomitable @heyhummingbird. This gal has gone through so many challenges, not just starting this shop, who has stocked my boards since day one almost, but to dealing with a landlord situation, and now Covid and a city plan that involves razing half a once vibrant city block where the shop is located. Now is the time to support shops like her’s.

Finished a store install for the fine folks at @oqstories in North Vancouver. A lot of #tremblingaspen and #douglasfir in this one, which when coated in #osmo3011 achieves a bit a a sweet spot of natural colour without the UV induced orange/yellowing that eventually darkens both woods. The ceiling install included a turnbuckle system that I came up with...probably the hard way to do it but I liked being able to micro adjust each plank. Also avoided aluminum channels for the LED strip lighting in the shelves and milled up a dovetailed groove to hold the lens.

It’s been a good run. 4 years since @creativemayhem helped me layout and laser cut and taught me how to stitch the old sheath, the strap stitching finally failed. But the #vegtan held up to almost daily use really well. The fix would be to undo stitching to be able to re-stitch the strap I guess, but I’m making a batch of 60 news ones so may as well treat myself.
