Have you ever seen a more perfect rose? It is so difficult to find a "true" blush without peachy overtones. Peter and I spent the entire day in Toronto yesterday looking for the best quality flowers we could find. I found this spectacular rose when I was in Mississauga - double-masked and with hand sanitizer in my purse! I looked it over in different lights and I even took it outside to verify the colour and authenticity in natural light. All I can say is WOW... She is going to be beautiful in our arrangements! Can you tell that she's faux? Picture her with dusty rose cabbage roses, ivory roses, ivory lisianthus, peonies, ivory hydrangeas, baby's breath and dusty rose stocks with tons of grey-green eucalyptus! Back from Toronto with our flowers for the spring/summer floral arrangements at Stillwater on the Lake Bed & Breakfast. I even managed to pick up some dark burgundy roses for next fall. Colours are blush, dusty rose and ivory with lots and lots of greens. I also picked up fresh greens for the March/April elopements. Lots of roses, peonies, lisianthus, delphiniums, hydrangeas, stocks, astilbe, babies breath and lots of beautiful pampas grass. We picked up fresh I...talian ruscus, silver dollar eucalyptus and salal for our upcoming elopements. Most of the faux florals seemed to be on sale so that was a bonus. There are about 3 bags full that I couldn't even get in the photos. I'll be working on our arrangements around the 3rd week in March. Very excited! The selection today was outstanding. I lucked out with all of the colours I was searching for and even a fall selection. True blush is very difficult to find in florals. The flowers often look "peachy". And, dusty rose is almost impossible. However, today they had the most beautiful colours I have ever seen for spring. See more

Heading to Toronto this morning to purchase spring flowers for our floral arrangements on the wedding gazebo and on the lakeview arbor. Because we have SO MUCH SNOW, we will continue to use the romantic reds/evergreens for the rest of the winter season. As of March 21, we will switch to a spring palette. We ordered our annuals about a month ago and our wedding gazebo will be draped in whites and greens this year. I will also be picking up fresh greens for our fireplace garlands. Working on the huge swag for this arbor now. Will post a photo when it's ready. Will replace the spring/summer flowers with silver dollar eucalyptus, oregonia, white pine, western red cedar and lush red roses with some pine cones. The arbor will be draped in deep burgundy/red so that everything pops in the snow. Very excited about this one.

What an incredible sunrise over the lake this morning at Stillwater on the Lake Bed & Breakfast. The mist rising from the lake gives the illusion of mountains. Breathtaking. I am so honoured to marry all of our couples who choose to elope here at Stillwater on the Lake but I remember certain precious details about these two. I remember the dusty pink glow of her dress and how it shimmered in the wind. I remember his crisp linen suit and I remember the incredible love these two had for each other. You could literally feel it. And, the thing I remember most is that at the end of the ceremony , Jen, Peter and I cleared out while they danced privately together underneath the wedding gazebo overlooking the water. Private. Peter and I are cooking breakfast and serving alfresco on our lakeview patio for our two sets of newlyweds this morning at Stillwater on the Lake Bed & Breakfast.....Mediterranean scramble with spinach, portabellas, pancetta, roasted red peppers, fresh herbs from our garden, goat cheese, asiago and mozzarella. The scramble is topped with herb-marinated heritage tomatoes. The taste and the aroma of the rosemary and goat cheese in this dish is a feast for the senses! W...e're also serving tropical fruit plates to start, blueberry-banana pineapple smoothies, cherry-almond scones, Freshly-squeezed orange juice, cinnamon-infused French-pressed coffee and a selection of teas! A 12th anniversary surprise vow-renewal for two of our favourite repeat guests at Stillwater on the Lake Bed & Breakfast. The groom and I worked out all of the details right down to the setting, the photographer and how to get the bride to walk the actual processional! It was so cute. The bride didn't realize the vow-renewal was for her until she got to the gazebo at the lake and saw her groom waiting for her there. We handed her the bouquet at her suite and asked her if she could help the photographer check out the light. The look on the bride's face when she figured it all out was priceless! What an incredibly beautiful couple. Thank you for sharing this special getaway with us!
