It’s our first #WorkerWednesday of the winter season! Say hello to Lisa, the person behind (in more ways than one!) Ruby, our beautiful Storybook deer. Ruby is the product of many hours of hard work that involved Lisa stuffing a metal reindeer frame, wiring white pine needles into the body, and crafting Ruby’s face and ears with pieces of cedar She then added burlap antlers and a shiny red nose, et voilà! Ruby! Thank you, Lisa, for creating such a beautiful piece of art for all our guests to enjoy at #StorybookGardens

Some of us may be aware that Storybook Gardens used to be home to a number of animals. But, did you also know that Springbank Park once contained a Zoo Back in the early 1900s, Springbank Park hosted a variety of animals: raccoons, deer, bears and even alligators! Take a look at some of these pictures, from early Public Utility Commission reports, for a mini #LondonOntario history lesson! #throwbackthursday #ldnont #londonontario #tourismlondonontario #storybookgardens #springbankpark #history @ Storybook Gardens
