Major progress after a few interesting hiccups; the feature wall for The Urban Systems Victoria office is almost complete! The undulating shapes of each fin were generated with a custom algorithm that turned sound waves into physical form. Shoutout to our team Ana & Rika for all your help!

Over the years, we've come to understand that there are three key pillars to creating a strong brand. They are: 1. The brand authentically represents you and your values 2. The brand message speaks to your target audience... 3. The brand looks and feels crisp, clean and professional It's super important to consider all three; this handy diagram shows what happens when you focus on checking only two of those boxes. Stay tuned for more tips from our co-founder Tinka! See more

Our team has been busy this summer branding a new financial tech company called ctrlpay. ctrlpay makes it easier than ever to collect outstanding invoices, which is reflected in the logo logic: getting paid is as easy as the push of a button. We opted for a bright primary colour palette to reflect ctrlpay's people-first approach and to appeal to potential customers in a friendly and inviting way. ... The complete project will be added to our website portfolio soon, stay tuned! See more

I learned something interesting while reading a book the other day; the word "logos" in Latin translates to "meaning" in English. So, more than just a pretty symbol, your logo is quite literally the visual embodiment & representation of the meaning behind your business or venture. When branding yourself, step back and work to really understand the WHY behind what you're doing, instead of jumping right to WHAT it will look like. ... If your logo is driven by meaning, it will show! This has been your Tuesday Tip from @tinkaborovinka

It's time for a (belated) Tuesday Tip from our co-founder Tinka! Today's advice: Just Be You We're talking about authenticity. Chances are, you are not the only brand in your industry and there are lots of other savvy business owners competing for your market share. ... While the quality of your offering is obviously important, the real selling point for most consumers (especially when it comes to service-based businesses) is an authentic connection with the service provider. This doesn't mean you have to come face to face (in fact, please don't until Covid is behind us! ), but it does mean that your messaging and visuals should reflect the human being(s) behind the brand. Besides being an awesome ___________, what sets you apart as a rad person that consumers would want to do business with? Think about this and how you might be able to work it into your professional identity, whether through branding, graphics, messaging & tone, or, ideally, a combination of all three. TLDR; Good branding is a key ingredient in business success when it authentically represents its people. Does your brand represent you?

Studio Robazzo 22.02.2020

It's time for another Tuesday Tip from Robazzo co-founder Tinka! This tip is for the early stages of branding design, which can often be the most difficult because.. where do you even start? The first draft is obviously a critical piece of any creative process, but not for the reason you might think. ... When putting pencil to paper (or pen tool to artboard) for the first time, the goal is not to create a masterpiece of any kind, or anything that could be seen as a finished design. Rather, the first round of drafts represents the creative flow of ideas, and chances are that most of them will be absolutely terrible. Noticing what you don't like about the first draft is just as important as what you do like, and gives direction for the creative decisions to come in the refinement stage. After all, it's much easier to edit something that already exists than it is to edit an idea still in your head. Tune in next Tuesday for Tinka's next tip!
