Tomorrow is #GivingTuesday, a global movement for giving and volunteering. Taking place each year after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this day encourages support to the non-profit sector. The Opening day of the giving season, it’s a time where charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes. We invite you to join us as we celebrate the amazing work of the non-profit sector, at home in Calgary, across our beautiful province and country, ...and around the world. In an unprecedented year, this is an opportunity to give like never before, to support the organizations that are helping our communities and vulnerable neighbours survive. There are many ways to support your favourite charitable organizations. Financial contributions, especially during this difficult year, are always greatly appreciated, but there are other non-monetary ways you can help: Volunteer! While many traditional hands-on volunteering opportunities are unavailable to us during the global pandemic, there are still ways you can help the frontline staff serving vulnerable populations. Skills-based volunteering, such as that our volunteer Partners at SVP Calgary do, is highly valuable! Please contact us if you are interested in donating your time and talent! Further, sharing a non-profit organization’s marketing materials with friends, family and colleagues is also a great way to help. By telling others about the great work that these organizations are doing to build up our community, you are making a difference. Here's what we offer our grant recipients: General Operating Support: (typically $10,000-$25,000/year for a multi-year capacity building partnership). We know you’re best positioned to decide where the grant money should be invested. Our funds are unrestricted. Tools to assess your organizational capacity: aka the strength of all those behind the scenes systems: human resources, financial management, communications, ...board governance, etc. Skilled volunteers who help build your organization’s capacity in the areas that are keeping you from reaching your full potential. A commitment to working in partnership: our focus is to help your organization go to the next level. We work in collaboration with non-profits, where we each bring our own expertise and skills and together, we can achieve much higher results.
