Tamaani service agents and technicians were in Quaqtaq from the 14th to the 16th of December to make improvements to the level of local internet connectivity in the community. During this time, the Tamaani staff, answered questions, opened accounts and exchanged SIM cards for almost 140 customers; these new cards are part of a modified LTE network that will improve the internet service in the community. Since our visit, there has been a noticeable improvement in the quality a...nd the reliability of the service to our customers. Some work still needs to be done but we are paying close attention through remote monitoring of the service. Tamaani understands the importance of having a home internet connection to remain in contact with family and friends, and for that reason, Tamaani will not suspend any internet services of our customers who are unable to pay their internet bill in December. As a friendly reminder, please note that the deadline to pay your monthly internet service is the 10th day of each month. Paying your invoice on time will prevent you from being disconnected and paying reconnection fees. Moreover, you will avoid calling our representatives to reactivate your service! Friendly reminder When COVID closures first started in March, we did not disconnect people for non-payment. In the months that followed, some customers have made their payments on time and we thank you for that. This is a reminder for those that have not made their payments. The deadline to pay your monthly Internet service bill is on Monday, November 16th. By paying your bill on time, you can avoid the $20 reconnection fee, you will not be disconnected, and you will not ...have to get in touch with one of our representatives to reactivate your service! Here are your payment options Online Banking Setup your Tamaani account in your online banking. All you need is your account number, which will be on your latest invoice. Credit Card You can add a credit card to your account through our online portal. Northern You can pay through your local Northern store. To all our customers, We are currently experiencing a very high number of calls and emails coming into our call enter. We are working tirelessly to answer as many as possible each day. However, there is still a large amount of people trying to get through. We ask for your patience and understanding in trying to reach us. During the first wave of the COVID pandemic, Tamaani Internet did not suspend anyone’s internet access for non-payment. Starting in August, Tamaani start...ed suspending service for non-payment only those customers that owed a large amount over their monthly invoice. Each month since then, Tamaani has lowered the threshold limit, until this month. Tamaani is now back to its normal cut off procedure that was in place prior to the COVID pandemic. In November, Tamaani had a list of over 1100 customers that were going to be suspended, which is 1/3 of its customers. To prevent your account from being suspended and you having to contact A Customer Support Representative, please make sure to pay your bill on time, before the 10th of each month. Tamaani has several ways to pay, including through your online banking, making the payments at your local Northern store, or pre authorized credit/debit. Solar Interference As many of you are probably aware, we are approaching the sun transit period for Fall 2020. This is the time of the year where for a short period in the afternoon, the sun, the satellite and our satellite dish will be in a straight line for a few minutes. During this time, radio emission from solar radiation will cause enough interference with the signal from the satellite to interrupt the Internet service. This year, the sun transit period will begin on O...ctober 8 and finish on October 14. Internet service will be interrupted in every Nunavik community during the transit period. Hello from Tamaani. The service desk staff from Tamaani would like to thank the people of Kangiqsualujjuaq for their enthusiasm in migrating to the new modems. And for assisting Tamaani through the test phase of the LTE upgrade as Tamaani and the manufacturer make adjustments to the software and to the radio configurations. Today we experienced a software issue in that not all the modems are registering and the occasional modem drops off the network. (the blue light goes a...way). The software vendor is aware of it and is working on the problem. They hope to have a software patch applied over the next day or two. So, if your modem drops off (we hope it won't) and does not come back up after unplugging and plugging it back in a few times, use your old modem. It has not been deactivated. Once we get the software issue resolved, we will announce it again here on facebook and on the local radio station. Again, Thank You for your support and patience in helping Tamaani create new and improved technologies for Nunavik communities.

We are aware of recent internet issues going on in Kuujjuaq and in Inukjuak. These are due to satellite issues, so the connection out is not working at full capacity. As many of you are probably aware, we are approaching the sun transit period for Spring 2017. This is the time of the year where for a short period in the afternoon, the sun, the satellite and our satellite dish will be in a straight line for a few minutes. During this time, radio emission from solar radiation will cause enough interference with the signal from the satellite to interrupt the Internet service. This year, the sun transit period will begin on February 27th and ...finish on March 2th. Internet service will be interrupted in every Nunavik community during the transit period.
