Unmasking a centenarian . During the resident council meeting today we were reminded that Gordon celebrated his 100th birthday in late 2020 . Gordon was one of the first residents to use the smart TV in the craft room to see his extended family that was able to connect with him via zoom . So here is the unmasking of our celebrity resident Gordon ! He did advise that he really liked a cookie with his plate of fresh fruit ! A note that was provided to the kitchen staff .

At the resident council meeting today we shared with all on the activities at the Florentine . We updated everyone on the plans for the 2nd dose of Vaccine which should be approx 42 days from first shot. We also introduced Heather our LPN who has returned to the site from Maternity leave and our newest LPN Tylynn who hails from Sask, but now resides in Merritt . We also took the opportunity to go over the new improved infection controls protocols that residents have seen on... site . We apologized for the single serving condiments as there was a concern on cross contamination between residents . We had a discussion on a system that was being trialed to increase communication between residents and families . There was a discussion on a suggestion for a smart TV for the pub room . By the end of the day the commitment made at the meeting was met and two 55 in smart TV were delivered to provide enhanced communication via Zoom as well as improving residents in the exercise room . We ended the meeting encouraging all to continue to follow PHO safety protocols .

The Florentine is very happy to be able to share 2 new 55 in screen smart TVs with the residents. One will be in the exercise room for entertainment while keeping in shape and one will be set up for the residents to be able to visit family via zoom. Just another way the staff and team at The Florentine are working to make the challenges of Covid 19 less stressful.

Registered Nurse with experience in Long Term Care , LPN registered to practice inBC , RCA , Registered Care Aide in BC , all having CPR , Medication certificate , Will need to do Food Safe if assisting or serving clients . Good Charting skills , Good client assessments kills, swallowing , fall prevention , wound management , good interpersonal skills . A small facility 20 long term beds and 57 assisted living beds (suites )

Ellen Miller, out of the kindness of her heart, brought up special gifts for every single resident of The Florentine. Ellen hand picked gifts for each person, right down to ensuring the diabetic resident could enjoy the treats. Thank you Ellen for taking the time to bring so much joy and happiness to us all.
