So Spring Planning is under way, we have been asked many times to add and host a farmers market(Will start season with seeds and seedlings) so want to throw it out there and see who would be interested, suggestion on which day, or both and of course this is free to join as teamwork is a beautiful thing. Just posted 2021 Petting farm hrs(Sat and Sun 12-4pm) I would love to get together a farmers market during either of those times to set up in the garden area. We have enough time to plan something really cool. Once we know there is interest we can decide when to start and create events and marketing for it.

All is quiet out in the yard as the goats have settled after introducing out two bucks into the yard. All the animals are mostly staying inside the shelter now that the cold weather is upon us. Looks like Levi had a visitor the other night. You can see from the tracks on the snow that we get quite a few deer coming through looking for the pumpkins and hay we have out.

On this day 23 years ago, Mark and I became parents of a little human. We named him Braxton. As a Baby he was easy going, entertaining and always had the gift t...o make people laugh. As a toddler he had so much energy, always there to help, always creating, always asking why looking for the indepth answers to everything. As a youth he would quietly contemplate life, not afraid to call it like it is, yet reserved for those who needed him to reflect. As a teen he thrived with knowledge, Knowledge that could one day change the world, always looking for a way to help even in the simplest of ways, all the while in search of something big. As a young adult his thirst for knowledge continued, taking university by the reigns and owning it. 23 years later, You are a man, my son and most of all my friend. I am so proud of you, always have been. Every aspect of your life resonates the incredible man you are today. Where there is a will there is a way. The same day we put Carl in the back with the female goats, Billy had broken out twice before we decided to put him in with the others and monitor the situation. After about 30 minutes everything calmed down and we confirmed that Billy is definitely the Alpha goat. When dealing with stud goats, it's important to make sure they are not injuring each other or doing damage to their surroundings. Carl has peacefully backed off and we are happ...y to say that all is calm once again on the farm. The gestation period of a goat is approximately 150 days, so we should be expecting around the beginning to mid-April. Hope you are all enjoying your day! With pumpkin season almost over, a reminder that if you have whole pumpkins, squash, gourds, mini pumpkins left over, and in need of a purpose. The animals would love them, they are a natural dewormer and toys for many of the animals. Also allows for fresh treats thru the cold months. If you can drop off at the farm(picnic tables) or message to arrange to drop off(visit of course).

Happens every year, got a chill getting ready for winter and can not get rid of it. Time for a nap! With heated rice bags. If I win the lottery I am doming the whole 10 acre woods with climate control. just saying.

Last week we were contacted late in the evening by a young couple that found a young piglet in the ditch along a busy highway. Need your help! We are looking for more of these containers, they are amazing for storing feeds and minerals for the animals. Really need the XL ones that come with colustrum for cows, however will take the med ones too hold cat litter. Can arrange to drop off or can drive by and put in the bus shack. Thank You in Advance

We have named the black lamb that came in a week ago Onyx, thank you all for the name suggestions. This past week we had a male Call Duck come in as he was not getting along with his roommates but will likely do fine with our larger domestic duck breeds when he goes out into the yard in the spring. Meet our newest member on the farm, Scooba-da-hutch (AKA - Scooby). Scooby is Male Call Duck (Drake) that was a little to aggressive towards his male roommates and has found a new home here on the farm. FYI, the board in the back is only 10" high.

The 10 Acre Woods is a family owned and operated registered non-profit petting farm and animal rescue. They come to us from from many locations including the municipal animal management service and others looking for a better life for pets that they can no longer care for. They are bottle babies, Runts, Orphans, or left behind and neglected. Many of the animals that come in need socializing and as a solution we opened our farm to the public where we build there trust in hopes to one day find there forever family.

Little Onyx arrived friday night after spending a week with another farm who could not care for her, so we arranged for her to come here. She was found on the side of the road and has some head injuries and health issues to overcome. But she is doing well, adapting to everything we can do for her. Getting stronger and more vocal, head up and interacting with us. Can not wait for you to all meet her, sweet little thing.
