Period pimples. The monthly bumps that can be a nuisance and a reminder that your monthly flow is coming, but why do they happen? The glands in your skin make a substance called sebum (your natural skin oil). These glands are sensitive to hormones and when you are on the latter half of your cycle, your hormone levels change causing these glands to: (1) produce more sebum (2) become smaller in size for some women. Add in higher levels on inflammation in your body and this crea...tes a recipe for pimple formation. Period pimples that are cystic in natural can be a sign that you have too much testosterone. Offering feedback with depth and meaning can go such a long way! Very often, we’re comfortable saying, thank you or good job or I’m proud of you. What if we communicated with more depth, and offered context to our feedback? Doing this allows the person on the receiving end to feel fully seen, and fully appreciated, and creates an opportunity for us to build and grow our communication skills. ... A simple example of this can sound like, Thank you for taking that off my plate today. I needed this break especially after the morning I’ve had. Or, I’m really proud of you for working through your panic attack, I know that’s something you really struggle with Offering context creates a deeper meaning and opportunity for meaningful connection with ourselves & others. . . . #thebodymindclinic #feedback #communication #gratitude #couples #psychotherapy

Do you feel overwhelmed with stress? Stress is a common experience in modern life. When you are in a state of constant stress, our bodies see this as a sign of low level danger. This low level danger can spiral into a slew of symptoms like feeling tired all the time, getting sick frequently, gaining weight (especially in the abdominal region), brain fog or trouble sleeping among many others. A way you can help re-fill your glass is by trying something called adaptogens. Ad...aptogens are herbs that help your body deal with stress better. They have been used for hundreds of years in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic cultures and serve as a way to bring your body back into the middle. They help take the edge off while your body is going through a stressful time and can help give you the much needed energy that stress may be robbing you of. Have you tried an adaptogen before? Our ND @dr.steffed can help you find the right one for you. . . . #thebodymindclinic #adaptogens #naturopathicmedicine #herbalmedicine #herbs #nostress #adrenalfatigue
