Here’s a snippet of last week’s outdoor performance by the great Duo Al Fresco! Christine Gale (violin) and Elizabeth Ackerman (keyboard) were gracious enough to bear the cold weather and put on a lovely concert for our staff and residents. This event would not have been made possible if it weren’t for the great support from the Recording Industries Music Performance Trust Fund (in cooperation with Local 149 AFM) - a big thank you goes out to everyone involved!

Thanksgiving is a holiday that we celebrate as we fight against COVID-19. A time to celebrate the things in life we are thankful for. Whether it be something big or something small, we have had days with breath in our lungs to live through them all. While sometimes it is hard to see the things we take for granted, Thanksgiving is the time that we can slow down and stop to smell the roses -or more fittingly the sweet smell of the leaves on the ground soaked in morning dew. Fa...milies have been in and out of the the Atrium in a fashion we have never seen, unlike the days before; how it used to be. Those days will return and our families will be near, but perhaps the walls of the building will burst! Burst with excitement and loving embrace, it seems so sweet to get even the smallest taste of love and affection displayed with familiarity. Something we miss, but are grateful to have such memories. What is a life well lived without trials or pain? Something like the Truman Show, without the existential angst. Maybe it would be cheerful, or maybe not. It’s hard to appreciate the good times when nothing goes wrong. It is more than a turkey and it is more than family, but we can all agree it is not the same without them. Be encouraged and hopefully have your heart warmed because you have a bigger family here that you’re a part of. We may be from different places or histories, but we have been together through this challenging mystery. While we have been apart from those we love, we are privileged to have gone through it all surrounded by friends that know it has been tough. So many people in the world have been isolated and alone and while we are still isolated, we have this family in this place we call home. Let us celebrate and be thankful, that, while different, we can be hopeful in the days to come, with the ones we love, for our breath we are forever grateful. All that being said, there is no better time to be thankful for all those that have joined the Briton House Fable.

Although our regular scheduled events and activities have been paused due to Covid-19, our residents are really enjoying the limited, social distanced gatherings we can have. Like this afternoon tea party accompanied by fresh Ontario peaches and delicious brownies!

Assisted Living is reserved for residents who require more care and attention. Each suite is a private studio-size room with a Juliet balcony and a private washroom that is equipped with safety bars. A hospital bed, linens/bedding and towels are provided. Windows are completely secured and each suite has individually controlled heating and air conditioning. There is a lounge and dining room on each care floor reserved specifically for care floor residents. In addition to thre...e nutritious meals daily, snacks are available. A therapeutic bath area is located on the 8th floor.
