Parrsboro Band Association 06.01.2021

VIRTUAL OPEN MICS CONTINUE: Happy New Year! The timeframe on vaccine rollout indicates that we could very likely be able to hold Sunday bandstand concerts this summer and resume real open mics here at The Hall in September. The virtual open mics will continue at least until the end of May and we’ll likely have the occasional virtual open mic even after the real open mics resume. I’d like to come up with some sort of hybrid version where people could either perform live or ...send in their video to be played on the big screen at the hall accompanied by the house band, maybe to be broadcast at a later date (send me ideas). The next virtual open mic is on January 10 at 7:00 and, as always, will be available online at thehall.ca and broadcast in Parrsboro on cable channel 5 and CICR 99.1 fm. I would need submissions by noon on Wednesday, January 6 to make this show. Send me an email at [email protected] if this is new to you and I can help you with your submission. Again, Happy New Year, and keep the submissions coming! Rob See more

With holiday entertaining winding down, with one big night to come of course, you can always dispose of your bottles at Durant's and simply drop them off, letting them know that they are a donation to The Hall. Small donations add up and we truly appreciate the support. Wishing everyone the very best in the New Year and be sure to sing it out loud at midnight tomorrow night!

An absolutely wonderful evening of Christmas entertainment posted this evening. Tremendous variety, featuring all who 'normally' participate in activities at The Hall but who are, for the most part, unable for the time being. A tremendous vote of thanks must go to Rob Bentley who through his time, energy and ability put together so many disparate elements to remind us all the Christmas will come to pass, albeit a little differently for many. If you missed it, you can still go to The Hall's web page - www.thehall.ca - and find it on the Live Web Events page. Everyone is encouraged to visit and enjoy the evening, or enjoy it again. Share it with friends and family. And from all of us at The Hall have a safe and Merry Christmas and a much happier New Year.

Be sure to stop by next Sunday evening at 7:00 when The Hall continues its virtual celebration of the Christmas season with Virtual Open Mic XV. Brought to you by The Hall, the Parrsboro Lions Club and CICR radio you can tune in to Eastlink Cable 5, on The Hall's web site on the Live Web Events page, on the Parrsboro Lions club web site or listen in on CICR radio. We are encouraging all virtual participants to submit their favourite Christmas songs. This should be a good one.

This Week's Social-Distance concert featured a video of last year's performance of the Living Christmas Tree as we try to keep traditions going through the pandemic. With a lot of work and cooperation on the part of all of us, and with the vaccines on the horizon, perhaps this too will be able to resume in 2021. In the meantime, we hope you enjoyed revisiting this wonderful traditional presentation. If you missed it, or want to see it again you can simply go to the Live Web Events page on The Hall's website, click on the middle photo in the top row and press play.

Join The Hall, the Parrsboro Lions Club and CICR radio in celebrating the Christmas season tomorrow evening with a 'virtual Christmas Concert' from The Hall. This will be our 38th broadcast in the Social-Distance concert series. The programme will include 'virtual' performances recorded at The Hall, videos from previous Christmas concerts and a new virtual recording by the Parrsboro Citizens' Choir featuring Timi Levy as guest performer. Be sure to tune in Eastlink Cable... 5, CICR radio, or either of the websites for the Parrsboro Lions Club or The Hall. To view from The Hall's website, go to the Live Web Events page at www.thehall.ca and click on the center image in the top row. The programme will load at 7:00 pm so if it does not start the first time you click on it, refresh the page (the little round circle/arrow in the upper left of your browser) and click on the image again. Enjoy and we would like to wish everyone a very safe and Merry Christmas. See more

We at The Hall, the Parrsboro Lions Club and CICR radio want to wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas. Tune in next week for final Social-Distance of 2020: A Christmas Concert from The Hall.

Next Sunday, December 6th, The Hall is pleased to celebrate the Living Christmas Tree with videos from past performances. Tune in at 7:00 pm and don't miss taking part in this treasured annual tradition. However, and apologies in advance for the length of this posting, please read through if you have had any difficulties being able to view any of the 36 Social-Distance events. As it seems there were some difficulties with accessing the virtual Open Mic at The Hall and the b...roadcast of the tree lighting last night it seems sensible to explain the process. All virtual concerts and open mic nights from The Hall are ‘aired’ at 7:00 pm Sundays simultaneously on Eastlink Cable 5, The Hall’s website, the website of the Parrsboro Lions Club and for audio only, on CICR radio. The link that can be found on the websites only goes ‘live’ at 7:00 pm which is why you are asked, when you get to the Live Web Events page on The Hall’s site or the Lions Club website, to refresh the page to see the current link appear. All presentations are prerecorded and can be viewed once they have been made ‘live’. The newest one will not show up until it has gone live and is therefore accessible. If, as in last night, you are joining for a specific event, and you are ‘late’ there is no worry. The full programme will be accessible any time afterward on both sites. (If you are watching on Eastlink it will air at 7:00 pm and does not repeat.) The rest of the photos visible on the page are access links to all 36 previous presentations in the Social-Distance series. The newest broadcast will be in the center of the top row of images. Simply click on the photo in the middle and the screen will show up. You then press the Play arrow and enjoy

This was a special evening as the Parrsboro Board of Trade and the Claus Cause joined The Hall, the Parrsboro Lions Club and CICR radio in Open Mic X!V, kicking things off with Parrsboro's annual Tree Lighting Ceremony - covid style. A student was selected to throw the switch to light it all up and Aiden Welton did a wonderful job. A great way to start what proved to be a highly entertaining show. Thank you to all who made this all possible. Tune in next week when we will present The Living Christmas Tree - covid style. Videos from past years will be presented as we try to keep the tradition alive.
