2016 vs 2020 A world of difference. Every year since 2014 we have sold bake at home sticky buns on Christmas Eve. And every year since 2014 you have lined up down the street to get some. ... Not this year. This year felt quiet. But, special. This year we were able to greet you one at a time and wish you a happy holiday. 2020 has been a year full of challenges but also opportunities to learn and embrace change. Thank you Thunder Bay for joining us on the journey through 2020. We will be closed until Tuesday January 5, 2021. We look forward to seeing you all in the new year. I’m trying to enjoy the peacefulness of this holiday season, the quiet evenings. It’s much different than most years. I’ll miss gathering with family and friends, but one slow quiet Christmas allows me to enjoy some eggnog and apple cider by the fire, with my favourite holiday cookies, (nutmeg logs!). And of course my husband!

Just over 2 years ago we opened our location at Intercity Shopping Centre and you embraced us! Today will be our last day at Intercity, we will not be reopening after the holidays. Due to the recent announcement by the Ontario government, our hope to keep you all safe and COVID- free, and the fact that we have more than 500 sticky bun orders to fill and distribute, we have made some changes to our operations for the coming week. Tomorrow will be the last day to come into our Court Street location to shop before Christmas. Wednesday December 23 and Thursday December 24 will be for preordered pick ups only. You can still order online until Tuesday De...cember 22 at 10pm. After that we will suspend all online orders until after Christmas. So if you had planned to pick up a latte, an apron, a cookie or anything else when you came in to pick up your preordered sticky buns, we suggest that you order those online and schedule your pickup to coincide with your sticky bun order. December 23 and 24 we will have pick up at the entrance and exit and will not be able to process any purchases at that time. We will also be unavailable to take phoned in preorders on those days. COLES NOTES VERSION All preorders stop at 10pm December 22 until after Christmas No admittance inside our shop December 23 and 24 No purchases December 23 and 24, only preordered pick ups. Today was one of our busiest days ever. At the end of the day we had quite a few baked sticky buns leftover so I told our team to divide them up and take them home to enjoy. Shortly after we closed an elderly gentleman came to the door. Kaitlyn unlocked the door and let him know that we were closed but asked him what he was looking for in case we could accommodate him. He told Kaitlyn that his wife was in the hospital and he had hoped to bring her a sticky bun. ... Without hesitation Kaitlyn asked him to wait and came back inside. She told me his request and said she was going to give him her sticky bun. As soon as the other staff heard this, they each said, He can have my sticky bun! They practically fought over who was going to give up their sticky bun! As Kaitlyn opened the door and handed the gentleman 2 sticky buns, I heard him say, Oh thank you so much! Dreams do come true . 2 years ago Kyle at Sleeping Giant Brewing Co. brewed the Port Arthur’s Fog Pale Ale in celebration of our 4th anniversary. At that time I asked Heather from Pulp + Paper Creative if she could create a piece of art for the occasion. This can was drawn by Heather and is inspired by a very interesting person- @sailorsarahjanenorth is a tugboat captain on Lake Superior- how amazing is that!? So here we are, celebrating our 6th anniversary, just before C...hristmas and during a pandemic and all of these elements have come together like a friendly gift to us! And to you too! Bake at home sticky buns! As you know, we usually only sell bake at home sticky buns on Christmas Eve BUT this year is different! In consideration of the need to social distance and the close contact that occurs in the Christmas Eve sticky bun line up, starting tomorrow, we will have bake at home sticky buns available everyday until Christmas . You can call the bakery to preorder and prepay, order online or just pop in to our Court Street location! We will still be open Chr...istmas Eve 10-1 for those that have made Christmas Eve sticky bun runs part of their tradition. *Added info- STICKY BUNS WILL NOT SELL OUT- unless of course we are unable to buy the ingredients for some reason but that has never happened and we do not anticipate that happening We will have vegan available closer to Christmas buns come in packs of 4 for $15 you can order buns made without nuts by calling the bakery 344.3430 we have never frozen the unbaked buns but have customers that have. They let them defrost on the counter overnight on Christmas Eve and then bake in the morning unbaked buns last 4 days in your fridge

We had the privilege of being part of something special today and wanted to share it with all of you . Today we partnered with the staff of ICU at @tbrhsc to bring some treats and love to the residents and staff of Roseview. The staff of ICU contacted us, saying that they felt so much love and support from our community during the early days of the pandemic and wanted to pay it forward. They wanted to show their support for the residents and staff of Roseview as they strugg...le with the recent COVID outbreak. At the end of October we hosted United Way Pretzel Week. For 4 years we have participated in Pretzel Day but of course things were different this year! We decided to extend the day into a week to maximize safety. Thanks to you we sold almost 1600 pretzels in one week! We bumped up our donation to The United Way to $2000 With the generosity of Thunder Bay, The United Way is able to provide important and critical services to our community. This year the holidays look different so let’s turn this into an opportunity to make it a special year. We want to bring back the old school Christmas of our childhood. Let’s make memories together, bake together, skate together, build a snowman together, make not so perfect decorations for the tree together. This is Austen of Bee You Honey! . We have the last of his local 2020 honey at our Court Street location. We have greatly missed having our dining room filled with friends and families, making memories together at The Sweet North. Closing our dining room in March and converting it into The Sweet North General Store was a difficult decision but it has allowed us to support other small local businesses like Bee You Honey and for that we are grateful .
